Game Profile

The progress of the game is saved in the cloud. If you log in with your gamertag on another console it will synch your savefile as long as the console is online.

I would recommend downloading a copy of the game save and profile to the pen drive (if it allows you to).

This way if something were to happen to the drive during your travels, you will have a backup at home, any would only have to start back from before the travels. I did this with my 360 game saves often.

Then when you return from your travels, you can move the pen drive save back onto your console and overwrite what was there.

Otherwise as long as you don't loose the pen drive, you won't loose your game progress.

Your cloud saves attached to your Account should carry the saves with your profile

If i'm understanding the question properly then this may answer your question.

If 2 different profiles are signed into the same xbox, the game usually ask for clarification on which profile you use in game (depending on your choice is what gamertag will be listed as being used).

They will both be signed in still but as mentioned depending on the choice is what profile you will be playing as (keep in mind that to others it will probably say both are playing)

Switching profiles mid-game though will most likely send you back to title screen

Since your saved games are in the "cloud" of the Xbox, you just need to log your profile on another console.
