    Game Pass Games Don't Launch


    Hi there,

    I have a problem with Games Pass games (Xbox one X, Game pass ultimate) not starting, they will show the first title picture and then either freeze to a black screen or take me back to the home screen.

    I have tried soft factory resets, hard restarts, clearing the cache, clearing persistent blue-ray storage, cleared the alternate MAC address, changed DNS to manual....

    The Xbox has had a hard factory reset only a few days ago (due to another issue) and it took me two days to get the game I wanted downloaded again so I hope I won't have to do that again.

    Game Pass Affecting Purchases

    I've notice when you launch a game from game pass that you don't own at the bottom right hand corner of the screen a white square with the words game pass in the middle of it will show up. But if you launch a game you do own that is on game pass it won't
    show up. This is a rare problem. I remember reading about it months ago.

    Hello, Axi0L. Thanks for reaching out. I'm Lucas, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be glad to help you out.

    By the error message, looks like the gaming services app is having issues to launch. Please try to reinstall it:

    - Go to Start > Search for PowerShell > Right Click > Run as Administrator.

    - In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    - Restart your computer. Open PowerShell again and run the command below:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    - Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

    - Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking > See if your connection test is ok. You should aim for open NAT and connected to server. If you receive any error message, please let me know.

    Try to run your games again and let me know how it goes.

    Apparently, it was something to do with "Windows gaming" preview program from Xbox insider hub. I opted out of it, then reinstalled windows services. Worked fine since then

    Upd: gaming service version changed from 4.66.9001.0 to 4.66.2001.0. Maybe newer version is bugged
