game not staying installed

Since I successfully updated to 8.1 each new day requires me to uninstall and reinstall Mahjong and Microsoft Solitaire. What gives? Taptiles is working fine.

Mines installed again now and the game looks fantastic to me so it shall be staying that way!

 

problem installing disk and staying installed

I had this same problem with a used copy of Forza 5. Would install to 39% and allow me to play only the 1st 4 races. Would then say Forza required more installation but I could continue playing but wouldn't let me leave the end of the 4th race. I tried
all the tips online to no avail (hard reset, uninstall & reinstall, disconnecting network [both wired & wireless], etc). I also had install issues with Dead Rising 3 (took nearly 6 hours to full install & download a 13GB UPDATE!!!! I eventually tried downloading
the game from Xbox Marketplace. That worked finally but required nearly 24 hours to download & install!!! Can't figure out why a "cutting edge next gen console" takes FOREVER to install. PC games take 10-20 minutes to fully install but this takes 24 hours.

Why are you having to uninstall/reinstall these games? Are you receiving an error message when you attempt to launch them?

 

I'm having the same problem. Not just with Mahjong but with Taptiles, Solitaire, and Wordament. Each morning after booting up my computer each game will load but then it shuts down and is placed on the taskbar on the desktop. It opens on the desktop but
does the same thing. It loads then shuts down.

I've had to uninstall and reinstall each game every morning in order to get them to work. This is a major hassle. I upgraded from Win 8 to Win 8.1 and now this problem has popped up with these 4 games. All my other games work fine. So, what is the problem
with those 4 Xbox games?

Help in resolving this problem would be super. Thanks!

 

Oh, I don't get any error messages at all on any of those 4 games I listed.

 

No error message, overnight, when I try to initiate game it starts and then ends and goes to task bar. I found out by trial and error that if I uninstall and reinstall that fixes it, but only for one day. I have to do this every day. Tap Tiles is fine,
just solitaire and mahjong

 

Hello all,

This behavior is typically only seen when an update has failed to install correctly. Please try the following steps to make certain that everything is up to date:

1. Press the Windows key

2. Type in Windows Update

3. Under the search bar you see on the right, choose Check for Updates

4. In the Windows Update screen, press the Check Now button

5. Even if it doesn't seem to find any updates, click on View Details

6. Install any updates you see that haven't been installed- including optional ones

7. Restart using the restart option from the shutdown menu.

Then please try these steps:

1. Press Windows Key + R

2. In the box, type wsreset.exe and press Enter

3. This will re-launch the Windows Store

4. Hover over the right-hand side to bring up the charm bar

5. Choose Settings

6. Choose App Updates

7. Choose Sync licenses

If you find that these steps show that you are completely up to date, then please try the following in order to fix any possible corruption in the game’s files by doing a "refreshed" installation. Uninstall the game(s) and then restart your system by selecting
the “Restart” option from the shutdown menu. Once you’re back up and running, press the Windows Key+R and type wsreset.exe in the dialog box and press Enter. This will refresh and re-open the Windows Store app and you can reinstall the game.

Please let me know if your system is showing as completely up to date and if the same behavior occurs after a refreshed installation.

Thanks for the help but it did not work. Also, when I press the Windows key in step one, nothing happens, I had to search for Windows Update. The rest all worked , I did all the steps but the problem persists.

Sadly, Microsoft support isn't much help. I still have the problem with the four Microsoft games:

Taptiles, Wordament, Microsoft Solitaire, and Microsoft Mahjong. I've resigned myself to the fact in order to play these 4 games, I'll have to uninstall and reinstall them every day. It really is sad when they put out a product and a person can't get
the satisfaction they deserve. Really sad!

I had a long chat with the dev team yesterday about this issue and they would like to get some additional feedback in order to try and determine what's going on here. The first things they would like to see are a dxdiag log and a cache file log. On the Start
screen, just type dxdiag and run the tool. Once the tool is finished, click "Save All Information...", which will save a .txt document.

For the cache file, open up File Explorer and copy/paste the following into it: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftSolitaireCollection_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\ - Just make certain to change the [UserName] to whatever your username
is on the machine.

This will give you the DiskCache folder, just zip this up and send it along with the Dxdiag.txt to *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. *** Once we get these reports, we will send them over to the devs.

The devs also had a question about how far the game launches before it minimizes to the Taskbar. There are 3 splash screens before the game opens fully, so how far into this sequence do you get before the game closes?

One other thing they would like for each of you to try: when finished playing for the day, manually shut the game down by either hovering in the top right-hand corner of the screen and clicking the X or by using Alt+F4 to end the instance. They are curious
to see if the games are not shutting down as they should.

I have the same issues with Mahjong it doesn't load and the only way to play is to uninstall and reinstall. I play every morning and I'm concerned that I might be hurting my computer by this routine to play Mahjong. Why is it doing this ? My other games
are fine. Thanks for letting me rant

 

I logged in today and my game of mahjong is gone!!!! that's right gone! In its place is new profile called catchingboot 72 and everything has been wiped....

very upsetting please help be get my game stats and everything back

I have encountered the very same problem with M Mahjong after having uptadated to Windows 8.1. Same situation as the ones described: every day I have to install the game. It is a real nuisance...I feel disappointed.

The same happens to Tunein(radio broadcast)
