Game Marketplace prices are still insane

I thought they were working on this and becoming competitive for the Xbox One? Games that are selling NEW at retailers for $30-40 are still priced for $59.99 on the marketplace. It cost less to offer a game digitally than to make a disc, packaging, ship
to store, etc. Why are they charging more still? This is one of the main reasons everyone jumped down their throats early in the next gen process when it came to digital vs disc. How hard is it to just price match Amazon?? I would have bought at least 3 games
from them this past week but instead went to the retail stores.

I don't rent many movies using XBOX Live Marketplace, namely because they have always been a little pricey, however I just went to rent a new release and they wanted 1000 points for it!? What!? Then I checked a couple of newer ones and they were about
2000 points!!! Did I miss something? Have points gotten cheaper, or are these movies unreasonable? Last time I checked, 1400 Live points from Future Shop costs $19.99. That's ~ $0.014 cents per point. So a movie that costs 2000 points is actually costing
me over $28 to rent!!!? WTF?

I must be MISSING something, please fill me in!?

 

How do you know how much it is to offer a game digitally. Server space, bandwidth etc.....

 

Are you serious? Why does steam offer the same games for $20 or less? Figure it out.

 

Yes, he's serious - don't insult his intelligence. You can still get great deals on Xbox Live for great games through various promotions such as the Deals with Gold promotion, which gives you 50-75% off of some relatively new games. There have already been
sales for both versions of Killer Instinct, Zoo Tycoon, Thief, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Peggle 2, Forza Motorsport 5, and many others not listed here.

 

Tomb Raider was a steal of a deal @ $30........ Peggle at $5.99..... DR3 @ $39.99....

Unfortunately the MSRP of the games listed on the Xbox Store don't keep up with their retail counterparts, you need to wait for the deals to come out to get good value for digital games.

That's something that should change, hopefully. Especially when I see retail copies at $59.99 and digital at $69.99.

I can't believe people are defending MS because they have a sale once every 3 months. Microsoft and Phil Spencer has even said that they need to have more competitive pricing for the marketplace. They cannot expect to sell games for.59.99 digitally when
retail.stores and online retailers have sales every single day. Xbox marking a game down $20 for a weekend is not the same as Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon, Best Buy, etc marking these games down $20 permanently. Phil and Major Nelson said this would change for.next
gen. They hinted at making new games $40 digitally to entice sales online and beat the $60 retail store prices because it is cheaper to do. AC4 is $25 over priced, Forza is $25 over priced. Zoo Tycoon is still listed at 39.99 when stores are selling it for
$15 now.

Just price match...
