game keys not working

Before we proceed any further, we would like to set your expectation that here in community forum, we do not have the tool to check and verify gift code or redeem code if what account it has been redeemed. What we can do is to provide information related to your concern or point you to the dedicated support team where you can get the desired resolution.

Here are the things that we can suggests

1. If you have other account, it is possible that it was redeemed to the account that was signed with the device. You can check it from order history.

2. You can contact back the reseller where you bought the game code or contact our live support channel.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Typically, once a code is successfully redeemed, it should show up on your billing history. When you sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders, does the redeemed code appear in your billing history? If it does, try signing out of your account, restarting your device, and then signing back in.

If it doesn't work, please provide the URL. From your billing history page, locate the redeemed code and click on the image. It will direct you to the next page. On that next page, please get the URL or the link so I can check the version bundle you've redeemed.

3. If not, please select the country/region it is showing and select the correct one among the lists.
   
4. Make sure to use to check the available contact times of the support.
   
5. Select the "Contact Us" button
   
6. Select the drop-down menu options that will match your concern.
   
7. The next window will provide you with support articles based on your request and we recommend reviewing the relevant articles before selecting the "See contact options" button.
   
8. On the final window, you will be presented with multiple options. We suggest selecting either the "Chat online" or the "Request a call" options to speak with someone. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible.

There is a possible issue with the license of the game. It is also possible that the Windows Store needs a reset to clear the Store cache. To resolve your concern, you may perform the following solutions on your PC:

Solution 1. Run the troubleshooter for Windows Apps on your computer by clicking the run troubleshooter button on this link.

Solution 2. Reset the Windows Store to clear the Store cache.

1. Press Windows key + X on your keyboard.   
2. Click on Command prompt (Admin).   
3. Type wsreset.exe, and then hit Enter.   

Solution 3. Re-register the Windows Store to refresh and update the licenses of the games and apps that you installed on your computer.

1. Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard.
2. Open Command Prompt (Admin).
3. Paste the following command: PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"
4. You should see a progress bar that re-register the Windows Store on your computer
5. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you reinstall the game to manually update it.

It works!!! I loaded the game up and pressed ESC key when it asked for the product key.
