How the hell do you guys know so much about this game? Should I just start over? 3/4 of my health bar is radiation. There's no rad away packs anywhere. I need a *** book for this game. It's not even fun really. The guns absolutely suck IMO. LVL 7.

Dog bailed on me pretty quickly too.

  2. Did you play Fallout 3? It's not radically different.

Like Genchy said about baby steps..that's the best advice. At level 7 you should be doing easy missions and sticking close to home. I approach it like how I would in real life. I set up a shelter, scavenge everything I can find, sell it all for a few
decent weapons in Diamond City and then just explore small sections around my shelter and the stronger I get, the further I venture out.

It's like the Witcher 3. If you venture out too far before you're prepared, you will be ripped to shreds.

RUBBERNECKER, I don't know what advice to give you really, but it sounds like your not to sure about stuff like stats etc,(apologies if you are) Every item of weapons or clothing or food you pick up has stats, for instance the vault suit your walking
round in has 0 damage (although it does offer rad protection) so you got zilch protection from bulletts, similarly whatever gun your using will have a damage rating. Every time you pick up some clothes or a gun, check the stats in your pip boy and if higher
use the higher one, as for clothes, try and scavenge raiders for base clothes like raider leathers, then make sure you equip leg and arm pieces and a chest piece and helmet if you can find em. Its worth keeping some clothes that might boost character, intelligence
etc and slipping into them as the situation demands. With food pay attention to the rads as the more you eat the more they build up. So try and cook up raw meats to have rad free nosh. Its a deep system that's really rewarding once you get your head round
it and start to pull it all together.

    Game is way too hard

I am not seeing any problem I put my points in Luck and Charisma this got me caps easy on, bought armor found weapons. Each level made it much easier, I don't use VATS at all or Power Armor (yet, my next quest it was mentioned to use to avoid rads).

After maxing out C and L I went for strength, so melee would be stronger. (I had a hard time finding ammo, I had to purchase it all the time. Got expensive.) Now with blacksmith perk I build custom weapons and now my simple .10mm pistol and my Serrated Machete
take down super mutants no problem. One hit kills on most ghouls, bots however I have a tough time with. (Any bot... they seem to go down by laser guns faster.)

No problem this game is fun, and more of a walk in the park compared to Fallout 3. Now that was a hard game for me.

  5. The reason you are running out of bullets Pyx is because it sounds like you are playing F4, CoD style, which will have you burning through ammo very rapidly. VATS is not meant to be a handicap.

I don't use my power armor unless I'm going into really hairy territory because I want to conserve my fusion cores, although right now I have 20 of them, so I could probably wear it non-stop, but I also feel a little bogged down with it. I love that they
can be modified...and you can mix up the parts. SO COOL!

Guess what I ran into last night....quite humorous actually: I stumbled upon a Legendary Bloatfly. lol and one attack took my health down to 40% so I backed away quickly and attacked it from a distance.

    Game is way too hard

My advise is when levelling put some points into the lockpick and hacker perks that way you can find some easy safes full of ammo or stimpaks and hacker to find some super cool locked ammo caches Also put a few points into the barter perk (forgot the name
but it lowers prices for vendors) and when using VATS make sure you take note on the screen when the white bar is full it says "EXECUTE CRITICAL" it will usually take down mid level low level enemies in one hit (don't forget you can't spam critical hits you
need to take time and kill people slowly in vats for the meter to refill) companion wise hit up the museum in concord and help the man named "Preston Garvey" upon helping him not only will you find tons of ammo on the way up he also send you to the roof where
there a suit of power armour and a mini gun!!! Game is way too hard :D don't forget to grab the bobble head on the way out it increases said skills permanently Game is way too hard ;) but beware upon grabbing the suit and jumping down a deathclaw comes out of the ground aim for the legs so you cripple
it and you live another day (DEATHCLAWS still freak me out and I'm like a 5 year strong fallout player now even with the highest power armour I still run and hide like a baby ! :'D)

I don't really see how this game can be too hard on the easiest difficulty. You just gotta keep in mind that this doesn't have scaling like some other games so don't go into every single location and expect to win every battle at early levels. Gunner leaders,
deathclaws and the likes aren't ment to be your first opponents. The basic raiders, super mutants and the likes are still as easy as ever. Perhaps you just really gotta pay more attention to looting so you're not missing out on better weapons, make sure you
use VATS and pick perks that increase your combat skills. It's really just like in skyrim where you don't want to pick a fight with the giants at level 1 or start your hunt for the dragon priest masks at level 5 Game is way too hard ;) I'm still using my trusty vault 111 suit
with just some armor on top of it and all my power armor is left in Sanctuary to collect dust, been that way all the way to level 57 (which is odd, considering that I used to wear Tesla in Fallout 3 the moment I got my hands on it and heavy armor in New Vegas).

  10. It's very expensive but I think these are at a couple merchant stands that sell some really good armor and I love them because you can mix and match so you can get certain perks.

Destroyer armor - some parts allow you to move faster, I think the leg portions.

Devastator armor, right greave - Will slow time if your health falls below 20% - this a particularly handy.

I also chose Nerd Rage perk, which also will slow time when you are close to dying.

rpg 101 search everything and everywhere. I had like 10 stimpak and 6 radaways before I left the vault, fight radroaches with melee and save ammo. if you are on easy then they don't hit hard. I play on normal and I didnt use a gun until I left the vault.

Also goto sanctuary first and foremost. search every inch of it and surrounding areas. Don't go out too far and just take your time. It's not like the game is going anywhere.

I've been playing on "Normal" and reached level 16 last night; finding ammo (Even with the perks.) was a nightmare up until level 10 for me; it's gotten a little better! Keep a variety of guns with different calibers on hand. My guess is you were overusing
the Rad Away, but this game will play different for everyone.

    Peace, J.R.

There is a lot of good advice here. Another bit is to use your companions, and I don't mean Dogmeat. I love that dog, but he just isn't good for combat. I use Cait, whose standard weapon is a double-barrel shotgun that she really puts to work. They have
unlimited ammo on their standard weapon, and can't die at anything less than hardcore. Have them scout out the areas for enemies, like good little bullet sponges. The best part is that they will draw fire, and let you get in a free "hidden" shot for double
damage (without any perks). If you are in CAUTION, you are still hidden and get the bonus!

  14. Dogmeat might not be the best at combat, but I just can't leave him behind!
