Game in Main Tile on Home screen starts whenever backing out of any app or menu.

Okay, so I just got the One, and am sure it is a simple thing I am looking over, but there isn't enough documentation to learn anything about the console included. So! As stated in the title: I can be in any menu or app, and if I press "B" repeatedly to
get back to the home screen, Castle Storm starts up. I don't know why Castle Storm is always the default choice for the large main tile, or why it keeps restarting it. I've only played it once, and have games both before and after it, alphabetically. Pressing
the "B" button anywhere on the screen will make it start the game, and so by now, I am annoyed as hell at the startup's noise, and that I have to keep force closing it. I am ready to completely uninstall it, just so I don't have to hear it.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas about how to make it stop this?

Also, slightly unrelatedly, is it possible to make the "Pins" screen the default Home screen (I know that is probably a ridiculous request)?

Game launching

Yes, you can stop a game or app from running. Hover over the game or app tile on the Xbox Home Screen and press Menu (the button with the 3 lines) and press 'Close Game/App' at the bottom (the cross).

Just to follow-up, it does appear that backing out to the Home Screen, going to the App Menu and choosing "quit," and then starting again DOES work for going directly to the menu.

Hopefully I can clear this up for you a bit.



So, when you're on the dashboard and you repeadedly press B to back out of the app, pressing B on the dashboard will often open up the current game, in your case, Castle Storm. This is normal.



However, you don't have to uninstall it to stop it happening. To back out of an app, simply press the Xbox home button, the middle lit-up button on the controller, to take you back home. Any games and apps will still be ready to go as soon as you click on
them.



If the game DOES start up again, and you don't want it to, simple highlight the opening game, press the Start button, and press Quit. This will completely close the game, and this can be done to close other games, and apps.



As for making the Pin screen the home screen, it is not currently possible.

Most of what you say makes sense to me, as I assumed that "B" must bring up the last game played, to enable resuming. What I can't understand is why CastleStorm is almost ALWAYS the game that is in the main tile, and is the one that starts if no other game
has been played, yet. Even if the last thing done is to force quit it, it will start C.S. at the beginning, again. Is this an advertising gimmick of some sort by Zen Studios? I would have less of an issue if it brought up Pool FX or Crimson Dragon once in
a while, or at least a game ever played more than once, intentionally.

 

It will open your last played game usually.



For example, if I pressed B on the dashboard, it would open Battlefield 4, but if I then wanted to play Minecraft, and then quit it, and pressed B, it should open Minecraft again.

 

Well, my room mate watched me last night fire it up and find that the media app I was using last was still the one shown in the main tile, then press "B" ONCE, and it highlighted the Media Icon in the center of the screen for a moment, and then Castle Storm
started up. I tried saving the whole episode to the DVR, only to realize that the game DVR actually only records (you guessed it!) GAMES. At least I learned something useful from this.

However, I solved my aggravation by deleting Castle Storm, and then shutting down and playing the 360 for a dozen hours or so. I'll update later when I've had time to experiment and see if any other game or app defaults to the menu exit/resume spot rather
than the last executed program.

 

Yeah, you can only record games. You can't record videos or anything, obviously because of legal reasons.

The reason castle storm started again I'm guessing is because it was the last game you played. It won't open the last app, only the last game.

 

OKay, so it is still a little hit and miss on choosing the last game actually played, though I follow you about the apps not starting up, even if it was the last executable ran. Apparently now Massive Chalice is in the default spot, but I have trained myself
to stop backing out by pressing "B" all the time. I see this most on an instant-on startup, when some other game is displayed in the main tile, but reverts to another program when "B' is pressed.

Guess it is just an annoying "feature" rather than a repeating bug. But is there a difference, really?
