Game Gifting

I agree - all MS would need to do is add a "gift" option when you make the purchase. If you select it, you'd be required to give the gamertag of the person you're gifting it to (better not mess that up, let me tell you). That player would then receive an
Xbox Live message stating that they are receiving a gift (and it would either be anonymous or say who it was from - purchaser's choice) and will then be given the option to download it via the ready to install section.

It's simple, MS gets paid for the purchase, and everyone is happy.

Please do not quote mis-information, and blame someone else for it not being there in the first place. Under the Xbox License agreement before the u-turns, There was no mention at all of gifting digital games. Only disc based games.

And yes Gifting would be awesome way of giving your old digital games to someone, but only the once, because it would end up as a selling spree, from there on out

 

Basically they should add what Steam has for PC users, mainly when you click Buy on a game it asks you if you want to add it to your logged in account or gift it to another.

The same could happen on Xbox, click buy, get an option of adding it to the logged in gamertag/account or gift it to another.

Might need to localize it, so people in other country markets can't gift it to others, violating local market laws/tax issues, but still, a gifting system would be extremely usefull and nice to have.

Nope, it's technically not Marketplace Theft. That statement is referring to one account being distributed among many different people. Besides, in this case, his son is a legal resident of two different households, and nothing in their documentation says
you cannot use licenses on two separate IP addresses.
