Game gift refund - different region

Gifts are set up by region and will not be redeemable if it was purchased from a different region. Changing consoles region to another region falsely will not change the outcome. The only option would be to have the person that purchased the gift to attempt
to reverse the purchase of the gift as the code will not be able to be redeemed in a different region. Refund Webform

If your friend bought the game as a gift through the Xbox Store he can request a refund.

Seeing as the gifting of games etc is region locked you wont be able to play the game that was gifted if you are in a different region as the purchaser/gifter.

Basically game gifting at this time is region specific so you can game gift to different regions. as onyxishere said, you can contact support on phone and maybe the can provide a refund considering the circumstance.

You can only gift games to someone in the same region as you.

This is mainly due to the fact that different regions have different tax systems.

It should tell you this before you try & gift a game to someone.

A refund is your only option.

Gifting is region locked, so if they are on a different region than you, they would have to try getting a refund and trying to buy the game elsewhere that will work in your region.
