Game Fraud on Ebay

I recently tried to purchase Fallout 4 from a seller on Ebay. The product description detailed a digital version for Xbox one with quick delivery if you contacted the seller before purchase. I assumed he was selling a code for a digital copy of the game.

After buying the game and messaging the seller for the code he messaged me and told me that what I had bought was access to an Xbox Live account with a copy of the game available on it. He aske me to confirm that this was acceptable to me before he would
provide the account details. I advised him that I was not happy with this and asked him for a refund immediately.

He told me that he was having problems arranging my refund. I bought the game 15th November and I am still awaiting my refund and he ceased all communication with me after the first few days. I have now raised a complaint with EBay and I will hopefully
get my refund through this process.

Just wanted to warn anyone else who may be tempted as I was by the low price of the games this guy is selling. His Ebay profile is [Mod Removed]

what does apple have to do with paypal?

well that would be a fraud lock

you cannot make too many same purchases on a creditcard

call your bank or paypal to lift it (paypal is EBAY so i wouldn't call apple lol)

DIGITAL GAMES on ebay

If someone is just selling a code then you should be fine. However, if they are selling gamertags with games attached then you could have your console banned from Live as it is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service.

You should also be aware that if it's just codes that someone is selling the phrase Caveat Emptor (Let the Buyer Beware) would be in use. Not everyone on the net that are selling items are on the up and up.

Not the best idea posting the sellers name on a public forum even though you meant well.

The support forums probably isn't the best place for this.As you've taken it up with ebay hopefully this individual will be shut down.

Make sure you report him through Ebay though, as while we can't do anything from here, Ebay definitely can.

I misread this the first time. So I do apologizes if I confused you before. This is something you must deal with Ebay for. I think the only thing that can be done is maybe (I do not know how it works for digital games) they give you the value of the item
in question from Ebay. As the sale was done through there website, it is up to them to come to an agreement or possible refund. That is Ebay only. This is something the Fraud department would help you with. If the code is already redeemed, maybe Microsoft
can help once it is proven fraud. At that point they may block the code. They will not however, be responsible for replacing the code. It is a risk you take when giving people these codes. My only suggestion is deal with the Ebay Fraud dept.

thing is they wont get far, they can only share with one other person, unless they have loads of accounts for sale, either way it is fraud. the only thing you can do is report to ebay, and possibly drop an email to microsoft but that may not get anywhere.

it happens all over the place, there is only so much ebay can do, if they vetted every single posting ebay would not exist.
