Game folders appear on desktop instead of documents

Hi, recently I lost a folder of mine and had to look deep in my pc to find it back, but the next day, every game / gamelauncher started to create folders on my desktop. When I played my games I had lost all data, but after some digging I found the exact same folders in my documents with all my data. So bascically, games are creating new data folders on my desktop instead of using those who are in my documents with all my data.

Whilst searching for my lost folder I changed some things in the Registry Editor, but I changed everything back. Here are some pictures of my registry editor:

A friend of mine thinks the problem lays in personal, because they are not the same path, (the route for personal is: C:\Users\Redux Gamer\OneDrive\Desktop )

I have confirm the registry keys on my environment, have you tried to change the value of "Personal" to "%USERPROFILE%\Documents"?

And BTW do you have any backup of the registry before you did the changes? And then restore the backup?

Hi Krik,

Unfortunately your reccomendation didn't work. I managed to get all things working again, by making the value in personal, C:\Users\Username\OneDrive\Documents , so documents instead of desktop and it seems to have fixed the problem.

I'm still thanking you for trying to help me, it is really appreciated.

Instead of the whole documents folder, you can try to choose only games specific folders inside the Documents folder.

If you can't do it too, you can try to Unlink your PC from OneDrive or even uninstall OneDrive (if you don't use it). You will still be able to upload manually your files to OneDrive and all your files that are being saved on OneDrive/.... will get back to your computer normal path.

Now I'm not really sure if you'll need to reinstall games or not, but that's the only option I can see that can work.

i would google each game for locations, they could be in the save folder, documents folder, apps folder or even cloud. there is no specific save location.

I go to my Documents, and the Saved Games folder is not a thing.
