I think this is just for preview program members at the moment. Here's a sample clip: -

Looks WAY better than it did before! Hopefully Upload Studio will be updated to support this too, as that still produces videos at 30 FPS and with a much lower bit rate.

    :)

  2. Game DVR pixelation when record at higher settings

When I try to record at High or 60 FPS setting, in game menu, my video output is all pixelated with some blurry lines from he bottom to the top of the screen. I can record fine in gameplay (when showing 3D graphics and moving), but since I pause the game,
these blurry lines show up. I'm having this issue since I tried to use the Game DVR, and now (1 year after) this issue still not solved! I want to record at 60 FPS, and the Game DVR don't drop my FPS in game like other programs.

Here's a little demo of what I'm talking about: MEGA

PS: I can record fine at default settings without this bug. This issue occurs since I change the video quality to High or 60 FPS. Changing Resolution Quality doesn't make effect.

    My system specs:

    Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0 Ghz

    8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz

    Radeon R7 360 2GB OC

Video driver: Crimson 16.5.1 (tried to update to latest version, nothing has changed)

Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview build 14905 (at now)

Game DVR now records at 60 FPS and a higher bit rate!

I had no issues with the clips before. But there is always room for improvement with the game dvr and upload studio

  5. This looks nice! Like NxtDoc1851, I didn't have any issues with clips before, but it's nice seeing they are finding ways to improve things.

Game DVR won't record in 60fps

Hi Benmc5! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

What game are you trying to record at 60 fps? Does your Oc can run the game at that frame rate? As you can enable the option to maximum record at 60 fps but if your PC only runs the game at 35 fps the screen recording can't be higher than that

    OUCH!

30 FPS is fine, the higher frame rate of 60 FPS really makes a difference for First Person Shooters and Racing games. Watch Dogs is not attempting to be either of those genres.

Is there anyway to change the file type of Game DVR recordings to save space?

The differences in video size are actually quite startling. On my PC with an RTX 2080, standard @ 30 used about 100MB per minute of video, double that if 60 fps recording. Normal uses a compression of around 12-13000kb/s (kilobits per second).

High @60 came it at about 350 MB per minute and had a compression of about 40,000kb/s

lower bit rates = smaller files sizes but higher compression.

It takes a fair bit of computing power to record real-time in high quality with a lower bit rate, even if you used a different video encoding container file. The only real advantage of a different container such as MKV for example, would be the fact that they don’t need to be ‘finalised’. That is, if your PC crashed during a recording session the MP4 will not complete and you won’t be able play it back – that’s if you can even find it again. This doesn't generally happen with MKV.

What are your laptop specs if you don't mind me asking? Did you know you can change Game DVR to record to a different drive?

Game recording will produce really big files, not much can be done about that. If you want to make them smaller you'll need to put them through a third video editor where you can then create new file with a smaller file footprint.
