    Game DVR not recording

before i left for japan i recorded some gameplay using the game dvr, i come back and i cant record anything anymore it keeps saying.

"you system doesn't meet the requirements to record video clips". my video card is a r9 390 and since it recorded gameplay before there is no reason why my system suddenly can't do it again.

    things i have tried:

    1. editing the settings to make sure everything was turned on.

    2. canceled the process Broadcast DVR in the task manager

    3. turned the read only option in the files where my videos are dropped in to off (it turns itself back on again)

    4. different games.

    5.turning my pc off

is there anything else i could possibly do to get this to work cause i actually kind of need it.

    :)

Turn off auto game clip saving?

Auto game dvr recording is annoying in Dead Rising also and quite frankly not needed. It seems like turning off game dvr prevents manual recording as well via "xbox, record that", unfortunately. Anybody else know how to prevent auto recording while maintaining
    the ability to manually record?

  3. Xbox one automatically recording game clips (FM5 Drifting Away)

Turn off the game DVR completely. Settings preferences turn off game DVR. Note that with it off all gameplay recording including manual methods like record that and the DVR app will no longer be able to record. Hopefully they will add an option to turn off
    just the auto recording.

I know the game DVR has issues recording windowed mode games. I've personally had it work one moment, and not work the next - the only thing I've seemed to be able to do is use the keyboard shortcuts in full screen mode to try and start the recording. The
default is Windows Key + R. If it works the screen should dim for a second.

I took some time to go through some answers that have worked for me/friends and write up a super long post. Game DVR not recording :) Maybe something in here will help that you haven't tried out yet?

    Hi there,

The Game DVR for Windows 10 is great when it works, but it has some issues. It looks Microsoft cares because they are working on it (Updates are planned for the Anniversary update).

General support for the DVR can be found here:

Xbox on Windows 10 : Social

    Windows Game DVR System Requirements:

Hardware Requirements for Game DVR on Windows 10

    AMD:

    • Radeon HD 7000 series
    • Radeon HD 7000M series
    • Radeon HD 8000 series
    • Radeon HD 8000M series
    • Radeon R7 series
    • Radeon R9 series
    NVIDIA:

    • GeForce 600 Series or later
    • GeFOrce 800M series or later
    • Quadro Kxxx series or later
    Intel:

    • HD 4000 or later
    • Iris 5100 or later
    Troubleshooting Steps:

Trouble shooter guides can be found at:

Troubleshoot Game DVR | Windows 10 Games

    Try Full-Screen Mode:

Sometimes you'll get an error "There's nothing to record" when running a game in windowed mode. It'll refuse to run unless the game is in full-screen mode. You'll have to change the settings in your game to get it to fill screen. Another option is to
press Alt-Enter and that may switch it to full screen.

You won't see the game bar in full screen so you'll need to use your shortcuts to start/stop recording.

    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/social/record-game-clips-game-dvr-windows-10

According to that article you need to press these keys in sequence to start recording. Other keyboard shortcuts won't work.

    1. Windows + Alt + G
    2. Windows + Alt + R
    Restart GAME DVR Task:

    1. Open up the Task Manager (Right click on the taskbar and go to Task Manager OR Press Windows-X and then press T)
    2. Find the DVR Server task (bcastdvr.exe). Click it and go to End Task.
    Delete Temporary Files:

    1. Open Settings App and go to System
    2. Go to Storage and choose This PC
    3. Scroll down and find Temporary files
    4. Click on it and then click on Delete temporary files.
This process may take a while to complete - it all depends on how many you have. Wait until it's complete and then reboot your PC and try again.

    Change the Shortcut Keys:

Sometimes it's possible that the shortcut keys are blocked by another program - you can't record by pressing Windows + Alt + R for example.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-067f-eebbd3328da8/fix-problems-with-game-bar

You can change these or assign a secondary shortcut by:

    1. Start menu
    2. Xbox
    3. Settings
    4. Game DVR
    5. Keyboard shortcuts
Reinstall or Upgrade Your Graphics Card Drivers:

Visit your graphics card manufacturer's website, locate your model and download the latest drivers. Install/reinstall them, reboot and try the DVR again.

    Ca be frustrating!

Or go to settings, go to game dvr, you can untick the auto record game dvr box and you will find your "record that" will work fine still.
  15. PMathan Win User

    its official!!!!!!

You should say "Xbox Record that" to record the last 30 secs. If you say "Xbox go to game dvr" it will snap the dvr but you than have to manually hit record.
