Game DVR Freeze Issues

So, this is happened to me a few times in the last few days. Playing Battlefield 4, I snap the Game DVR to record a 3 to 5 minute clip and when I go to unsnap, it freezes for a bit. Like a few minutes at a time where I cannot do
anything but wait. I have not tried with another game yet, so it could be a Battlefield issue possibly.

Anyone else have this issue?

No one else having this issue? Did a hard reset but still had the issue happen last night. I did manage to get one 5 minute clip to record and not freeze the system. When the freeze happens, those clips are always unplayable and corrupted. Last night, the
one that did not freeze the system, was there and playable. When they are not there and corrupted, I get the 0x80040212 error code. Did some searching on that code and others are having the DVR not record clips but no mention of freezing the system.

Have not yet. Definitely will be doing that tonight. Wanted to try again on Battlefield after I hard reset the system. Same issue but maybe a little better.

I'll try it with both Titanfall and Forza 5 and post back.

 

Only option is really hard reset which you have done

 

Read on one of the threads regarding the 0x80040212 error code, a few folks suggested uninstalling Upload Studio and doing a test to see with that off the system, does it happen. One guy said he no longer has the corrupted file issue after uninstalling and
reinstalling. I might also try that to see if it helps the freezing issue. Seems that error code and my issue are very much related, IMO. When the freeze happens, it not only does that, but I get that same error code that it did not record the clip.

 

Saw a thread awhile ago on the official battlefield 4 forums with some users having issues with the automatic DVR recording where clips are not being recorded or appear blank. The solution seems to be disabling Head Tracking and Leaning in Battlefield 4
options. If you find that it's only BF4 giving you the issue maybe worth trying that those your using the manually recording.

 

OK, so some good news to report. Tried a few things last night. Tried a different game (Titanfall) as well. First, I started the console and did a reset by holding down the power button. I then unplugged it for 5 to 10 minutes. Played the Titanfall for a
bit, snapped the DVR and did a 5 minute clip. System froze for a bit. Couple minutes could not do a thing. After it returned to normal, I then closed the game and immediately uninstalled Upload Studio. I again did a reset by holding down the power button.
Figured I'd put it to the real test and put on some Battlefield. Again played for a bit and did a 5 minute clip. No issues freezing at all. Snapped back and forth between the game DVR and the game with no issues. Tried a bunch "Xbox record that” scattered
throughout with no issues as well. Did both the game DVR snap and “Xbox record that” multiple times to be sure and everything came out and worked except for one 5 minute clip that did not record and one that was only a minute and change instead of 5. The one
that did not record was on the tail end of a conquest round and when it finally finished was when the stats were up in between rounds. Not sure if maybe that threw it off. The one that was only a minute and change long was right up against another 5 minute
clip that just ended so I'm pretty sure it started from one that one ended to when I snapped the game DVR. I'll have to test that theory out again. NO error codes at all though.

Pretty much worked as it should though overall. Few small quirks but DID NOT get any error codes. Maybe some random thing I read about uninstalling and reinstalling Upload Studio was right. Needless to say, this is all up in the air still.

 

Sorry, one thing I left out in that post above was after I unistalled Upload Studio I did reinstall it before going going into BF4 and testing.

 

Good to hear your having a better experience now using the DVR since re-installing the Upload app, must have been a bad install when you first loaded the app on your X1.

 

Maybe a bad install but what gets me is, why did this just start happening then? That was installed the day I got the console a little under a month ago. Maybe that April update like I've read others say? Not sure about that either as this literally just
started happening. A few weeks after the update.

 

Are you part of the Xbox One Update Preview Program?

 

That is a good question. How do I know? Maybe check the OS version and match it to the most current one out?
