Game DVR clips pausing game.

I am really hoping there can be a fix for this.

For the first several years of Xbox One, I recorded a ton of clips using Kinect and "Xbox, Record That." It was perfect. Unfortunately, my kinect has been unreliable for the last year or so, randomly turning itself on and off, so I have made a habit of recording
clips by quickly pressing the Xbox Button, then the X button. This works, but for some games (specifically for me, Battlefield games), when I do so, it brings up the pause menu. In the middle of a multiplayer game, it can be game-ruining moment when this happens.
When I record a clip with "Xbox, Record That", there is no pause. I tried using "Hey Cortona, Record That", but that also brings up the pause menu.

In any scenario, recording clips should never interrupt the game. Please make it so whenever and however we choose to make clips, the game we're playing does not get paused. This really does ruin the experience.

My Xbox One has recorded two 1 minute clips instead of 30 sec's?

Using the game DVR to record won't make your clip look squashed.

However, I would be worried about it momentarily pausing your gameplay as you pause it. :|

is there any solution to the game dvr recording clips even when then game dvr isn't slected to record clips

I think this is how recording game clips is now supposed to work. Just incase you don't know it is now possible to connect a headset to your Xbox One controller and use the Hey Cortana through the headset it the same way you do with the Kinect camera.

 

Yes, I've done this. That is how I found out that using Cortana makes your game go into it's pause menu. Using the Xbox voice command doesn't pause your game, but you can not use the Xbox voice command over the headset. Perhaps if they could just make
it so the Cortana command did not pause the game? That, I think, would solve the problem.

That would be a great idea. You can submit an
Xbox Idea for this and see what happens.

Once an idea is submitted a panel reviews it and if the idea is liked then they put it up for votes and depending on the votes or if they like it they see if they can implement the idea.

I believe this is more of a bug-fix than a new feature, but thanks for the suggestion. I did post it on the idea page as well.

 

This is probably the developers implementing this. It kind of makes sense for the game to attempt to pause when pressing the Xbox button since you are stopping play briefly.

 

I had thought that as well, since I don't think all games do this. My hope is that, when it comes to implementing how a game's menus respond to controller buttons, Xbox could at least make sure the developers know it's an issue. My main issue is with Battlefield,
so I am also sharing this with EA and Dice. I just have a lower expectation that they are listening.

Only ones this wont affect are strictly online games such as fallout76 Forza 4 if on horizon life.
