    Game DVR Clips lost

I got my Xbox One towards the end of last year. I have used the Game DVR since I got it, but didn't know how long clips would last or how many you could have etc. Under the captures on the Game DVR app it says: "Unsaved Game DVR captures are temporary. To
keep them from expiring, save them." This doesn't really tell you anything about the duration or quantity of clips. I have saved clips before, but then got to a save limit which only notified me when I had gone over, and not before I had reached the limit
    of saved captures.

The thing which is very annoying is that there is no easy way to save your clips to a physical storage system such as my laptop hard drive, it just saves the clips to the Cloud. The only way I could find a way of doing it was after typing the issue into
Google. Many, many people seem to have the same issue with this process, and this was the only way I could find out how to do it as it is not explained on the Xbox Website. The method is by editing a clip in Upload Studio, and ticking the OneDrive option and
uploading it to there. Then you can go onto OneDrive on your laptop and download the clip from there. This process takes a long time...especially depending on your internet speed and the Upload Studio itself is very slow. I tried playing games whilst this
was happening but I believe it cancelled it. A lot of people have said that they wish you could save clips to an external hard drive through the use of the USB port, but nothing has been looked into this it seems.

As this process takes time, whilst at University I haven't always had time to do this if I've made a few clips, so the clips from playing when I had time would build up. As I didn't know how long they would last and didn't keep attempting to save them to
OneDrive, I hadn't saved clips to OneDrive for around 2 months. I finally had a bit of time off to try and save them, but when I checked the clips only went back to a month ago, so I'd lost a months worth of clips which was annoying. I then Googled this and
many people had asked how long they last and people had worked it out to be a month. After this I tried to save my saved clips to OneDrive so I could delete them off my Game DVR and create space to save more to prevent them from disappearing. I got Star Wars
Battlefront for Christmas and started playing it a few days after. I have had exams for the past 3 weeks so haven't had much time to use OneDrive, just playing the game (and recording clips) whenever I had time when I wasn't revising. I thought, as they expire
after a month, I would just spend time after my exams saving them to OneDrive.

It still hasn't been a month since I got the game, and I checked my clips today, and I only had clips from up to a week ago! So I have lost around 2 weeks worth of clips which was very irritating since it was still within the month period. I didn't save
them as I thought I could just save them directly to OneDrive when I had some free time like now.

I have looked again on forums and all over the Xbox Website and no where can I find how long clips remain on Game DVR or whether there is a limit to how many you can save or anything. I can not find out how much Cloud storage you get for temporary or saved
files. The word "expires" implies they will be removed after a certain period of time, and there is never a warning or anything when your clips are being deleted without you knowing. Surely there should be a message or notification you should get when your
    files are about to "expire".

Also, you can check the clips and screenshots you have on your Xbox Live account, but this only went back to 3 days ago! So there were more clips on my Xbox One's Game DVR than on my account apparently.

I asked my brother to check his Game DVR, and he has never saved a clip, but has "temporary" unsaved clips from up to 10 months ago! Whereas mine only go back a week. I would have tried to upload to OneDrive more regularly if Xbox actually said how long
clips would last etc., but in both incidents I have found out the hard way by losing clips, and I am still not fully sure as to how to the system works!

I expect not, but is there any way of getting any clips back? Or at least is there any chance of a much improved system for saving clips.

    :)

    The GameDVR is so bad!

There are about 5 clips in there using Elgato at 1080p the rest are all 720p using Game DVR or Blackmagic extreme at 720p. The game DVR is fine for what it's purpose is. Still which clips are which?

    error code 0x87c40156

This Error Code means that you have to many Clips/Screenshots uploaded to Xbox Live and Xbox DVR fails to load them all, so you need to ether remove some Clips/Screenshots from Xbox Live (Those Clips/Screenshots will still be on your Console, just not on
Xbox Live for anyone to see) and if that doesn't fix the DVR Error then you have to delete some Clips/Screenshots completely both from Console and Xbox Live to fix this DVR Error so Xbox DVR will be able to load your Clips/Screenshots about For Honor and other
    games.
