Game DVR always saves on C: even if i move the folder

i have a 128 GB laptop drive as c, which around 50% is used for OS and other programs.

so, i want to record some stuff with the game dvr on my external hard drive, because there's way more room on there.

so there's not setting in the xbox app, instead i have to move a folder. after moving that folder to my external hard drive (EGame DVR always saves on C: even if i move the folder :) it just creates a new recordings folder on C. so that's fun right? (no it's not.)

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Game DVR saving in C:\.... not in captures folder. Can't record anymore. Help!

Okay. I messed up real bad. And I don't think there's a way to solve it, and I'm very distraught about it. I was trying to move my Captures folder to my C drive after it had been on my D drive. It moved all the files of the Captures folder to the C drive,
not the folder itself. Now my Xbox Game DVR settings say "Save game clips and screenshots in C:\" The videos only show up when they're loose in the main C:\ folder. I tried creating a Videos folder and a Captures folder and moving them there, but it no longer
recognizes them if I move them anywhere.

As a result, I can't record any videos or take any screenshots. I just get the error message "Can't record now. Try again later." I
need to change "save game clips and screenshots" to an actual folder, not just C:\. But I can't do this, because I can't move my whole C:\ folder into another folder. How do I get my videos back in a Captures folder so I can continue to use
the Game Bar?? I've tried resetting the Xbox app and uninstalling and reinstalling it, restarting my computer multiple times, etc. The only way to change the location of where screenshots/videos are stored is by going into Properties --> Location and moving
the folder. But they aren't in a folder anymore, and there's nowhere in the Settings of the Xbox app to change the location. So I can't do that. How do I fix this awful mess?? Please help!

Accidently deleted my "Captures" folder and now I can't record any gameplays with DVR on Windows 10

There isn't a "Captures" folder inside my Videos library anymore, so I can't record any gameplay with the game DVR.

When I press Windows logo + G it tells me to move back the folder. I already created one with the name "Captures" or even in portuguese "Capturas" but it is not recognised and I cannot record my gameplays.

When I open the Xbox app on Windows 10 and go to options, Game DVR, it says: "Something went wrong. Try again later."

So I can't change the folder to save my screen recordings.

Is there anything that I can do?

Game DVR always saves on C: even if i move the folder

    Hi,

To see where your captures are saved, open the Xbox App, select Settings, and then select Game DVR. Under Saving captures, select Open folder to see your captures in File Explorer.

By default, game clips and screenshots are saved in your Videos folder, in a folder named
Captures. This can be moved to different places on your PC, including elsewhere on your hard drive or to external drives. Your Windows 10 PC saves the default storage to where the Captures folder is created.

Xbox Game Pass for Windows 10 - How would I move cloud saves for singleplayer games to my own computer?

I found out that there is a folder for both cloud and offline saves, at least for this game specifically.

    C:\Users\[Username]\Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Windows 10

The folder I found to be containing the cloud saves was a series of numbers, and local pc saves in the _LOCAL_ folder. Moving the cloud saves to the local folder did the trick for me.

    Am I totally inbred ?

Please don't use profanity on the forums, please.

About changing the save location please go to C:\Users\%username%\Videos or navigate to the place where the videos are saved, right click the "Captures" folder and go to "Properties" and then click the "Location" tab, Click "Move", browse to
the new location to store your Captures folder - this can be another drive; it must be a drive that is always attached to the computer such as another hard drive and this folder must stay in that location permanently. On the top-left corner, click the New
folder button. Name the folder "Captures" (no quotes) and press Enter. Select the newly created folder, and click Select Folder. Click Apply and then Ok to any popups and the videos will move and you can check back in the xbox app to see that the default saving
    directory has been changed.

While recording the video may stay in a temporary folder on your main C drive but when you save it it should move to the new location - may that be on another drive.

Where do I change the place where recorded video is saved ? (xbox app for win 10)

    1. Open the app and go to settings
    2. Click Game DVR and look for saved captures
    3. Open the folder and move it the folder to its new destination
Next time you capture something it should go to the new location you picked. I hope that this was helpful to you.

    Game Bar Captures Folder Missing

I did exactly as this link shows, but redirecting to a slave drive's root.

The difference is, I didn't create a new folder on the separate drive before clicking ok. Somehow that made the real Captures folder go into the abyss.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/87523-move-location-game-dvr-captures-folder-windows-10-a.html

The capture folder is now completely missing. It cannot be located, and every time I re-open the game bar now it has decided to place where captures are saved in a different odd place. It went from the root of the slave drive of where I tried to move the captures
folder to, to the Videos folder, to the temp folder, and now to the system recovery partition. It's acting weird. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game bar. No change.
