Game Downloads

I am just curious about why game downloads take an exceedingly long time on Xbox. In my network tab it says my Xbox has an average download speed of 34 Mbps which is just around 2 GB per minute. So in theory a, 40 GB game should take roughly 20 minutes to
download. I know that download speeds are no where near accurate as it says , but it still should not be this bad. For example, Forza Horizon 2 is 37.XX GB ,and it took me a little over 5 hours to download. That is an average of 123 MB per minute. 2.05 Mbps
which is around what my gaming PC does on a bad day. i guess i'm not really upset at the fact that they take a long time, i understand 37 GB is a lot. I more upset of fact that its telling me my download speed is 34 Mbps when its actually 2 Mbps. Can anyone
tell me why it says 35 instead of 2?

Digital Downloaded Games

Recently sold my XONE to fund my PS4, A family member ended up purchasing the console & requested it was formatted which obviously wiped everything off, Ive had a text today saying they was able to redownload all games that was previously on there along with DLC ghost season pass for example.

Just a heads up games must be linked with the console rather than the GT.

 

Downloadable games?

I did check a couple of times and I noticed that there isn't any difference on the price whether it's a downloaded game or the physical disc. Sorry pal. no luck on the prices. You can try checking on it from time to time. Possibly after the holiday season things will get cheaper.

 

you have 37Mb per second that equates to 4.62MB per second that is 277.2MB per minute and that is 16.632MB per hour ( approx 15.6GB).

Mbps = Megabits per second (there is 8 of these per MegaByte.

MB = MegaBytes (there is 1024 per Gigabyte)

All internet speeds are measured in Megabits so you have 37 Megabits per second which is 4.62 MegaBytes per second so a 40GB game will take approx 2 hours and 40 minutes, if the speed stays constant, which is highly unlikely with the net these days and if
you factor in other people connected and overhead and potential noise on the line.

 

If its a disc you are installing then go offline and it will install quicker

 

Your DL speeds are not the same as the server. Traffic on the server can cause downloads to go slower. Example, downloading Call Of Duty the day before release takes hours because it's mega popular.

 

Thank you all , especially Farscape247, i wasn't even thinking about bits there , that was my bad . thank you for clearing that up. I'm used to steam downloading in megabytes , and with the Xbox using megabits got me confused. I appreciate the help and quick
responses.
