Game downloads while in standby are really slow.

I bought GTA V last night. Then I put my console into Instant on mode and switched it off expecting it to have finished downloading while in standby.

When I checked this morning it had only downloaded a couple of gigabytes. I check the bandwidth usage meter and It had only downloaded between 500MB and 800MB per hour.

While my console was switched on this morning It downloaded about 5GB in half an hour.

Again I switched it off again because I needed to go to work and when I got home I checked again and the download had only gone up about 6%.

I check the bandtwidth meter and again it had only been downloading about 500MB an hour.

But while my console has been switched on it has downloaded nearly 2GB in 10 minutes.

I thought the whole point of instant on mode was so that you could download stuff while switched off so why do the downloads slow to a crawl whenever I switch off?

I'm not the only one to have noticed this as one of my friends has noticed the same thing as well.

Slow downloads in stanby? Try this!

If downloads are slow for you while in standby and on wifi, try running hard wired insteqd of wifi. Got my downloads up from 250 mb an hour to 4-5 gb an hour. What it should be.

You want better graphics and sound in your games?? The tradeoff is larger game files...just the facts. This is why you are allowed to download remotely or while you sleep (and can get updates while in standby mode as well). It is also always slower when
you sit and watch it download...best to start it and then go mow the lawn, or something...

 

A lot of people have noticed this and I believe there are requests to allow an option to set the amount of bandwidth used in downloads. You should check the Feedback Forums for one of those and upvote it.

Mine does this exact same thing. I dont beleive it was like this when i first got it about 3 months ago. While the xbox is on i download around 3 gb an hour. While off it drops to 300mb in an hour. I upvoted for this feature when i paid for this console
lol. Its like every great feature of the 360 was forgot about and is now an add on through a software update.
