Game downloads freeze, Xbox One X gets stuck

First of all, my apologies for the bad grammar, my English is kinda rusty…

I've been having an issue for the last two weeks, and I don't know what else I can do to solve it.

I hadn't played on my Xbox One X for two weeks, but started again when Vampyr (that I preordered) came out. I started playing, finished my session, and went to bed. The following day, I started my Xbox, tried to launch the game, but if froze and quit. Then,
my Xbox started acting around, freezing, and I shut it down. Thing is, when I restarted it, the Xbox was very slow (in the dashboard), and, finally, I decided to do a power cycle. Once done, I was able to play again.

Thing is, it started happening every single time I started playing Vampyr. And then, things got worse: there were updates available for both Vampyr and other games I have. Vampyr update went well, my Games with Gold downloads started (launched from the iPhone
app), and, then, downloads started to get stuck. Download simply stopped in the middle, but no other downloads started in their place, and the console refused my instructions to start any other download. The game update system simply froze. My Xbox is cabled
to the router (cat-6 RJ-45 cable, Gigabit LAN, and 400/100mb optical fiber WAN connection), so there’s no issue in this regard.

I then decided to remove the console from the Xbox Insider program (it was already on the omega level, the slow-rate update cycle) to see whether there was an issue with the latest version of the test software. Then, of course, I did a factory reset (keeping
my games installed). But the installation did not finish well, and I got the reinstallation screen. But this time, the Xbox did not give me the option to reinstall the system while keeping my games on disk, and I was forced to erase the disk entirely.

Once finally done, I started reinstalling my games, hoping the issue was finally solved (and to avoid any performance issues, I avoided starting any games). But, after a while, game downloads stopped again. I noticed that, it tends to happen with some specific
downloads (like the Prey demo, but not the only one), but it’s not a server error, since once it happens, I cannot start any other download, either a game download or an update. Once it happens, the only way for me to restart a download is to do a factory
reset of the Xbox, keeping my games installed (even a power cycle doesn’t help), even though I systematically have to delete/reinstall the downloads that have frozen. And, of course, when it happens, the console starts slowing down, to the point that even
the guide stops showing up (you know, that irritating alert “this application took too long to start”), and even a power cycle does not solve the issue.

I noticed on the Xbox forums, as well as on other forums on the web, that others have been having this issue. At this point, I can only see two reasons for this issue: either a bugged software update, or a hard drive issue.

Please, either the Xbox team, or someone else, does anyone have a solution? I did all the troubleshooting steps that I could find, and the issue remains. I want to be able to play my games, and I’m tired to have to play the IT guy for a 500€ console. For
that, I have my PC, and to be fair, it is far more stable than my Xbox One X ever was!

The new MCC patch makes it worse

Matchmaking was working alright for me last night, now they released a new 500mb patch and my game does nothing but freeze and get stuck on a party screen in MM even when I'm not in a party. Anyone else downloaded yet? Results?

 

Downloads get stuck in Microsoft Store

Hello,

I'm facing problems when downloading new games or content in my xbox one X. Concretely, when I launch several downloads (in this case 3) passed some time, the download keeps stuck in the same position and cannot be paused and started being the only option
is reboot the xbox one x to recover the normality in the download.

Is someone facing the same problem?

Just to avoid unnecessary troubleshooting steps, I have an external HDD, but game updates for those on the external HD work fine. Downloads get stuck only when it comes to what is installed or being installed on the internal HDD. I also tried with the external
HDD unplugged, same result.
