Game downloads - can I update my settings?

While a game is downloading can I go and change settings on my XBOX ONE, for example I set it up so that it shuts down when I turn it off.

I'm now thinking I would prefer it to just go to standby - can I do that while the download is happening?

I'd like an option to check for updates all games...

Should do it like Steam, as soon as the update is available for whatever game it starts downloading or you can set auto updates to only download at certain times if you want.Click to expand...

This would be great. I would love if they added the ability to limit the download speed. As I have multiple consoles and a PC, nothing irritates me more than trying to play online, lagging, only to find out one of my consoles is updating a game.

Battlefield 3?

i have same problem , i deleted mine trying to get the game to work as i could not download an update. Now i can download the update but when i go to download my pass again as i assumed u could. it just says can not download online pass ! ?

yes you can, place the console to instant on and then when you power off it will still download, you can change any setting while downloading. don't forget you can also play games and apps while downloading.

@ Jersey Devil- yup same account. I can go online and see that it is in "my games" though none of my Xbox one games are listed. Maybe takes time to update online.

@Vikingland1- yup, set to instant on and set to update and download auto.

I've got the same issue, but I cant even launch any games. I have game pass and at the top of the Xbox app, there's a link that redirects me to download an optional update for windows. But, on my pc I have no download optional updates in my settings so I can play the game pass I just paid for.

You can check for game updates by going to My Games and Apps then looking at the Update section. I would also recommend setting your console to Instant On and turn on background downloads so that updates will happen even when the console is turned off.

Hey Buddy, ive had this issue, regarding xbox live & downloading game updates and xbox updates

what i done to fix my own

Download The Update From The Xbox Site. ( copy To a usb drive ) plug it in and manually update the xbox via usb

if this fails. you can restore your xbox to factory settings

i would back up any save game data also.

to do .....

simply go to settings > hard drive > press y ( format ) it asks you for the serial number, so i would write this down before you do it, ( it can be found in my System Settings - Console Settings - System Info )
