Game downloaded to a drive i did not want it to

trying out the pc xbox game pass beta.

I wish everytime you selected install it just asked you which drive to install it on.

In my storages setting I set the drive to E and it downloaded to my D

the first time I installed a game I was able to select which(even though I had to go into my settings and change the drive apps download to)

but it does not ask me anymore.

and it is honestly a hassle that you have to change a setting to where apps download to just to get the game on the drive you want.

this is what steam does, it asks you which drive you want to install the game on without any hassle. so do my other game launcher apps, like Origin, GOG and Uplay.

if there is somewhere else I should be posting this just let me know.

When your computer is running out of space, you want to use a faster drive, or you just want to keep
apps in a separate location, do the following:

Open Settings.
Click on System.
Click on Storage.
Under "Save locations," and on "New apps will save to," select the new drive location.

Once you completed the steps, new apps you download from the Windows Store will now install automatically in the new location.

try to reinstall the app to configure the disk on which you want the downloads to be made

Sorry I wanted to transfer the game download to the internal drive, not run it from the drive I would transfer it with, e.g. download the 50gb games download to ext, then copy it to the other xbox internal drive.

I did try this both without and with the 2gig download and the 168mb download with no luck from iether. No i did not download the game to the hard drive as i was running the game from the cd.

I got it to work but have no clue what did it. I followed the steps above to reset Game Services and restarted a few times. Then I just tried to install it on another drive and two downloads showed up, I cancelled one and then the one that finished was installed on the drive I wanted it on in the first place.
