I bought a used copy of banjo kazooie nuts and bolts for my xbox 360 and it doesn't work. I have the newest version of the Xbox 360.I put the disk in and it says either "play dvd" or "disc unreadable." Ive tried all the methods on the "disc unreadable" link
on the support page but it doesn't work. I put in my Halo CE Anniversary and it works perfectly. What's wrong?

In that case, it sounds like your console will need a repair. You can check you warranty status and set one up

Hi there, so is the disc really scratched or damaged? I've had the same issue where I was certain it wasn't the disc drive and it was a used game, I got it cleaned up at the local video store and worked like a dream.

There is also a chance the disc drive is faulty or failing so keep that in mind, but it does sound like you may have a damaged disc.

It is a used game from EB Games so that could be it. It does have some scratches.

Has to do with the screen display size in the video options. You can adjust them from the play menu (lower one while playing the dvd not the dvd title screen)

Thanks for the answer. The situation I described corresponds to display discovery enabled. When display discovery is disabled, I have no sound at all when playing dvds.

You can definitely play DVDs on that or any other 360 console.

For the issue where the DVD is not filling up the entire screen, you can change that by pressing the 'Display' button if you own one of the 360 DVD Remotes or pressing any direction on the D-Pad on the controller to bring up the menu while it's playing and
then going to 'Advanced Controls' (looks like two gears).

Either way, you'll bring up the Advanced Controls menu and there is an option for 'Display Mode' (picture of the rectangle) in there that you can use to change how the DVD is presented on the screen.
