Game Discs Wont Read, But Bluray/DVD Will.

I just tried installing watchdogs tonight and when I inserted the disc, nothing happened. I re-tried it a couple of times and even restarted my console. I thought maybe the disc is busted so I inserted another game. Same thing. Cant read the disc. So I popped
in a Bluray disc and that worked straight away. I only played Thief just before the new update. Would this June update have anything to do with the games not working? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't understand in 2015 why we have to install games on our console

I believe blu ray read speeds are slower than HDDVDs. PS3 was able to read from the disc though, but I believe it also added temp data to the HDD that was continuously overwritten with upcoming levels.

Not only that, but games are taking up a lot more space. The slower read speeds of blu ray combined with a large amount of data that needs to be read is the reason why a HDD install is required.Click to expand...

Incorrect HDDVD was like DVD speeds, not at the start, but they were getting faster, and the read times were normal. The bluray is slower because of how the bluray reads or prints it i can't remember one of those two reasons makes it slower to read.

Last gen PS3 would load assets multiple times on the disc to help with load times, now we just install it all so it can load off disc or disk.

HD DVD was superior in every way, even the features that were promised like picture in picture and other features in movie while you watched a film... bluray always said "coming soon" for those features while hd already did it. The real downside to HD Dvd was the size, bluray is larger, of course just like normal dvd's HD DVD could get upgraded without needing new machines like dvd 9's.

Weird problem with xbox one

I would send the unit back to the store for replacement, blueray drives have 2 laser lenses one for blueray and one red laser for cd/dvd discs, could be the blueray one is out of alignment or another issue, also blueray discs are a smidging thicker than
dvd discs. Definately send it for repair.

I would try hard reset see if that can cure the issue if not insert disc a few times

Yeap, i cleared the cache by doing a hard reset. Worked straight away.

When you say "all other games", are these other games also DVD games, or are they BluRay disc games?

If you don't have any other Xbox 360 games, try a DVD movie disc.

If BluRay based discs work, but not DVD, then the red wavelength laser of the disc drive is broken while the blue wavelength laser still works.

Do you happen to have a DVD movie laying around to test? Try inserting a DVD movie (non Blu-Ray disc), and let us know if the disc plays. The results of that will help us determine next steps. Keep us posted!

Ok, sorry about the delay. I tried a couple of different plain Jane dvds and it sounds like it reads them for a sec then nothing just like the games from the 360. If I pull up the bluray app it says "there is trouble reading the this. Make sure it's a bluray
or dvd disc and if it's a game launch from that app list instead. (0x91d7000)".

anyone having the “no disc” bluray movies issue? annoying not being able to watch bluray movies. no problems with dvds, games or even 3d blurays.
