    Game Disc not recognized


    Whenever I put in a game disc in my xbox I keep get a notification that it doesn't recognize the disc and wants you to eject it and try again. It takes a bunch of times until it finally recognizes the disc. Is there a fix for this.

    Discs wont read

    Is the disc at least recognized? Are CDs or Blu Rays recognized?

    The disc function is not connected to the xbl core service. So it may be an issue with your disc drive. As there were lots of problems with drives not reading game discs properly, but reading movie or music discws, your console ma ybe in need of some service.

    Meanwhile as workaround you may try holding the disc a second longer when the drive tries to take it and then release the disc.

    Is this happening with all discs or just one or a few? If it's just 1, make sure the disc is free from any fingerprints or debris. If it's clean, there may be a defect with the disc.

    If it's all games, you may have to send your console in for repair. You can start the repair process at

    Sounds like you may want to use a blue ray cleaner. Worst case that cheapo disc drive is gonna die on you. If no warranty/ return option is available then use it for digital. My blue ray messed up too andbibhad to dismantle half the the Xbox to fix it. Check

    Disregard after a console reboot and disc re inserted. The games were recognized from discs and installed.

    Why is it whenever I put my Modern Warfare 2 Cross Gen disc into my Xbox it doesn’t even start to install or even show up in the Queue? (I just bought the game.)

    This may mean that the console is not recognizing your disc game. Do you have a different disc game that you can try?

    Are you sure the disc game is working? Are you able to test it on another console?

    This might be caused by the game disc not being recognized since the game uses the disc to check for ownership.
