Game Developers Fraud?

Who do I talk to about a game developer that is possibly defrauding the public by knowingly selling a game that is clearly broken and they have never had nor ever will have any intention of fixing.

Both the former and current owner knew the game was broken and continue to sell it today.

They are continually stating they will update the game "when" the PC version goes gold. However; that can never happen as the PC version is still considered an early access game in Alpha. Every week or so they have an update to that Alpha. It would seem to us that as long as it is, it can never be considered a final version, and can "never" go gold.

That being the result, since the game will never go gold, there will never be an update to the broken console version of the game. This console version is broken on all platforms, not just Xbox.

If a person buys a TV from a manufacturer that knows it is faulty or broken, yet continues to sell it without recalling it or discontinuing sales, they would be charged with defrauding the public.

Are there any checks and balances for game developers that cover the same situation with games?

I tried to get a refund on the game, but MS doesn't refund on digital products "that have been used or played" and it was denied.

Not gonna comment on that until MS/Xbox issues a reply about this topic.

I will not name the game on an open/public forum. That is why I wish to speak to someone about this issue.

Shouldnt you be targeting this at the developer of the game?

Bit like me blaming ford that a faulty cd that i bought from hmv doesnt work in my car.

I understand, we'll... Updates and development for a game depends entirely on the developers, Microsoft store is a way to help developers to publish their games and reach more people.

It seems that the game since the beginning has been on a alpha status and it keeps receiving updates from time to time.

So it's normal if you find technical issues on it, that means an alpha game.

From Microsoft side there is not much that they can do, this depends entirely on developers

The developer did not go bankrupt. Telltale the publisher did, who controlled the console version

A new console version is currently in early development. They have no access or ability to update the previous one, as they do not own that version of the game.
