Game deleted itself COMPLETELY

Quite a while back now, Cities: Skylines - Xbox One Edition came out on "Games for Gold" and I was able to play it for a few days. However, one day I went to play it and it said I didn't own the game. I first restarted my Xbox One to see if it'd fix it but
it didn't change anything so I left it for a few days to see if it was a glitch but still nothing happened. So, I decided to uninstall and then reinstall that game. Now usually, that game would appear in "Ready to install" but it never did and when I went
on the store it said I had to pay for the game.

This reason I am bringing this up now is because my friend has had this happen to him as well today and we are loolong for a reason why or a how to fix. He game he lost was a different game so it can't just be Skylines.

canceling an update will delete the full game.

just trying to understand , I have been playing sea of thieves (SOT) for a few months now and the new cursed sails came out so I was doing the update and it froze for a solid 20 mins so I paused it and resumed it and still frozen so I cleared que expecting
it to get rid of the update for me to then click on SOT to initiate the update again but instead it just deleted the whole game , so I’ve now have to sit through 3 hours reinstalling it while my team mates play

It was part of a free play weekend back in October. It would have only been free to play that weekend. In order to continue playing, you would need to purchase the game.
