Game crashes when trying to load Singleplayer and Multiplaye

I've got the original, non Game-of-the-Year version of Red Dead Redemption installed with all DLC on my Xbox One, and when I try to start up Multiplayer or Single Player, the game will start loading for a few seconds before crashing
and closing to the Xbox One home menu. Undead Nightmare, on the other hand, starts up fine.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game several times. I've tried launching it with and without any of the DLC installed. I've turned my Xbox One completely off and back on again, but nothing changes.

Can't play games without pausing download

I just bought Call of Duty Ghosts and it'll take a while to download so I tried to play another game while I wait. But every time I load a game it stops downloading.

I know that downloads will pause when you play a multiplayer game, but I'm not trying to play multiplayer. I'm trying to play singleplayer.

Whether I try Minecraft, Dead Rising 2 or Assassin's Creed 2 it always stops when I click the whatever button loads the saved singleplayer game.

Why does this keep happening? I am NOT playing online so it should let me keep downloading, right? Why on earth would these games be connecting to the internet when
not playing online? I mean Assassin's Creed doesn't even have a multiplayer mode so what's going on?

After re-reading, it was directed at you. Have you ever played TDU2? The game was focused around having singleplayer and multiplayer fused into the game. In other words, "When you boot up the game, you were in multiplayer if you had a connection, and singleplayer
if you couldn't connect".

"Hated having to load up story just to load up multiplayer." Jokingly, I brought up TDU2, but I said "might be out of the question" because I don't see R* doing what TDU2 did at all! Got some very, very bad reviews for implementing this design.
