Game connectivity issue

Hi, I have had a recurring issue for about the past year.

Issue is trying to start a game. The game will either show a game screen for a couple of minutes, and then show a message 'unable to load game, try again later', or if I go to update window it will tell me 'an update is needed but cannot be installed at present...try again later'.

Usually, after a week or so, the console will suddenly start downloading an update, and after a restart, it will work fine, I get a week out of it, then the issue starts again. However for the past 3 weeks I have been unable play any games from the console drive (I'm not even trying to load disc games until the drive issue is resolved). Today, it finally showed 2 updates - one was the MS store and the other a nitrado server app update. Once both these were updated and installed I did a restart...and the same game screen followed by the 'unable to load....' message appeared.

Specs: 1 TB X Box one, purchased new in 2016. Usage is light, mainly used for 4-8 hours play on weekends, not used to play DVD movies etc

I routinely restart the console every time I log on, and when its not being used (which is lately VERY regularly), will unplug the power box for days on end.

I have uninstalled most of my games, so there are now only 3, taking up approx 45% memory. I recently bought a 2TB external SD drive to try and improve playability - nothing is installed on the drive atm. Same deal - no play.

Main game is Ark (never had so many updates needed in a game in any platform...).

There is no internet connection issue - I can join and participate in parties, messages immediately are sent and received, updates will (eventually) download...it just won't load games.

Has anyone encountered this before? I'm at wits end, and about to jump ship to the PS4 if the XBox continues to function only as a paperweight...

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps

If you are still having the same issue, it’s possible that the local save for the game has become corrupted. If so, deleting the local save and re-syncing with the cloud might correct the problem.
First, delete the local save:
1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide and then select My games & apps > See all > Games.
2. Highlight the game title, and then press the Menu button on your controller.
3. Select Manage game and add-ons > Saved data.
4. Select Delete all to remove the local save of this game, then follow the prompts.
After you delete the local save, restart your Xbox:
1. Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your controller.
2. Select Restart console, then follow the prompts.
After you restart your Xbox, re-sync your saved games to the cloud. Your saved games are automatically stored in the cloud while you’re connected to Xbox Live.
Try playing the game again to see if re-syncing with the cloud corrected the game problem.

Use UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)

Open ports using port forwarding

Use a DMZ

Open ports using port triggering

Set NAT Filtering to Open

Didnt have time to edit. With that said, EA does have issues quite often. But its still VERY important to know your connection. And it only takes a couple seconds with that link I posted in my first reply. Hope the info I provided helps.
