    I have noticed that all my game clips that expire on the Xbox Network appear to be also getting deleted from my internal storage. All my screenshots that were uploaded to the network and later expired remain on my console with no issues, so screenshots are unaffected. The 90 day Xbox Network automatic screenshot and clip deletion policy is not supposed to delete anything from the console's local storage, right?

    My console is an Xbox Series X running on the latest non-insider software version and I am a Gamepass Ultimate subscriber.

    Were these clips uploaded to Xbox live or are they meant to be local to your Xbox?

    If they are local did you ever factory resetyour Xbox (complete reset)?

    Have you checked you are searching locally not on Xbox live as it defaults to Xbox live only

    I know if you are uploading to Xbox live sometimes some disappear but it's not usually one game its normally the oldest clips first and ad you have clips from 2 years ago this is unlikely

    Did you delete clips from your Xbox after upload as I'm pretty sure this clears the whole clip from both the xbox servers and your xbox, not just the Xbox

    I have had multiple game clips deleted or vanished from my xbox local drive as well as on xbox live without me deleting or doing anything. It seems some clips stay forever and a lot eventually go away. Is this supposed to happen and is there any
    way I can retrieve those clips or are they gone forever?

    Hi joelson,

    Thanks for your post. Once a clip is deleted, there is no way to recover a deleted clip. For future reference, you can download your clips from Xbox Live to your PC and have them locally if you'd like to clear space on your OneDrive.

    What Happened to my Captures?

    I am having the same issue. A while ago Microsoft implemented a new policy where screenshots and game clips that are uploaded to the Xbox Network (previously called Xbox Live) will automatically be deleted after 90 days. However, I don't believe that they should delete themselves off the Xbox's local storage as well.

    First, thank you for your reply. So what I'm gathering is that even though my clips are off the Xbox network, and saved on my external hard drive, they are still subject to deletion? Why even give the option to store game clips to external drives if they will just be deleted anyway? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of this option?Also,

    "Viewing it yourself counts as a view and saves a capture from deletion."

    This does not apply to me because I've viewed my own clips several times and they still auto-delete.

    I'll just save myself the headache and store them locally from now on.
