Game clip trim feature fails, for years now, still.

I can't even find the specific category to report this on the console.

I've reported this at least half a dozen times on the console directly. I make clips to report problems with games. If I can't make the files small enough they literally can't upload to some companies' sites due to their limits. Uploading a larger file even
if only to edit on the PC takes A LOT LONGER since the Xbox One is often stupid slow to upload any file at any time for any reason.

This is a serious pain in the butt, and it's been this way since the console launched.

No, a hard reset does not fix it.

No, resetting factory defaults does not fix it.

No, clearing the cache does not fix it.

No, backing out and trying it again does not consistently allow you to edit the file. (Though sometimes, maybe, if you also change the length. Sometimes maybe. Maybe not...)

This is really a pretty basic utility and game companies are increasingly demanding video for support tickets. And sometimes not a small amount as they often expect not only a capture of the issue, but it has to include your gamer tag and other information
specific to you, not just a random video clip. The demands placed on gamers is going to increase as we have no built-in tools in games to attempt to address technical support issues.

Ps. You don't even allow other companies to provide possible solutions we might be able to use. If Microsoft refuses to provide a working tool, or fix the poorly made one they've stuck us with, please at least allow outside companies to offer competing solutions
via the Store.

I really appreciate the two people who have replied.

Just as a note, I too am an Xbox Ambassador, and I was a second wave Xbox Live beta tester. Not that this by itself means a lot, but I do have a fair amount of experience and technical proficiency with Xbox in general.

Frankly, there's not a lot of choice, so I think your suggestion is at least a valid one. But as I mentioned, the console is horrible with uploading files. Is it the console? Is it Live? Regardless, it is an issue with Xbox. I have usually at least 67 Mbps
outbound. I can send files from any device in my household in seconds, even pretty sizeable files, to nearly any place around the world. Yet I've had 1080P screenshots take over an hour to post to Xbox (Live) itself from the original Xbox One (Day One release
Console), my Xbox S, and my Xbox One X. Video is a whole lot bigger than a simple screenshot.

Sometimes after waiting hours for a video to upload I may not have the specifics immediately at hand (because I might just forget). It can be hard to remember what happened, where, and how, preventing me from creating an effective bug report. This doesn't help
anyone out trying to resolve issues with a game. Some games, I run into bugs a lot. In the time it takes for a single file to get onto One Drive I might already have several other screenshots and videos that also need to be uploaded, edited, and reports made.
This is increasingly becoming common for me and is not exaggerating the situation for effect. I'm being very literal.

But since I'm not paid by any of the companies involved, and I'm supposedly trying to play these titles for entertainment purposes, I'll try to eventually get that file off of my console and someplace "usable", when I can. I report bugs and issues to help.
Not just myself, but the companies that produce titles (and gaming equipment) and the communities that surround them. Making it so it is very difficult to provide useful resources for the purpose of diagnosing technical issues makes it very hard to provide
helpful information. It creates a hindrance. There's things I don't bother reporting because it's too much hassle and it feels like often there's little or no result. This post likely will be one of those because I, and apparently others have reported this
issue for years and there's been absolutely no change at all that I can tell.

I wanted to start by saying thank you for your post. this is a lot of information to cover and it shows your passion to of taken the time to write it. Though I do not have a great solution for why the file type has to be so small, I have always used the
feature when I find errors to help the game devs make the games better. I often write in detail how the issue arises in the input box provided that the clip attaches too. I hope that in the future updates this is able to be made easier so you can help make
these games better through your hard work.
