game chat not working at all

Definitely do NOT listen to them when they say “clear your entire Xbox, factory reset it, don’t forget to unplug your router after buying a new Xbox because we broke yours”. World of tanks is known for having this issue and honestly most of the people playing it are super toxic so you’re better off without it.

um id prefer not to do that since when i do all my saved stuff for app r wiped so i have to login again and thats a pain

and looks like it works now i just changed some settings

Thank you for reaching out to us here on the forums regarding this situation. We understand that you are facing issues with your game chat issues. but don't worry, Please try the following to fix the issue:

Step 1: Clear Mac address:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

Step 2: Remove your account:

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm then re-add your account.

Step 3: Reset your console:

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.


Step 5: Check your NAT type:

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500 (UDP).

Step 6: Check your internet connection:


In case the issue still persists, please try connecting to a different network, or perhaps using a hotspot momentarily.

sometimes you have to go through party and select game chat and other times you have to be in game chat before you ever start a party. it is very complicated and some games work differently

Hi there, so resting your Xbox does not affect account based settings such as privacy settings. I’m am going to try my best to continue to help you with this, I’m going to ask you for some more information. DO NOT share any personal information here.

Does this issues only happen when voice chat audio is going through the headset? Or does it happen when going through your tv speakers as well?

Does your headset have independent volume controls? If so, is the volume too low or off?

Does your Xbox Console give you an option to adjust the game and chat mixer on your headset? If so have you adjusted them properly?
