GAME CHAT MIC DOESNT WORK

I’ve had a number of games now where I go into game chat to talk and my mic just doesn’t pick up or go into the game I can hear everyone else, but my mic won’t work. My parties work just fine, seamlessly some would say. But man it is so annoying when I can’t have a good time in game chat especially in games that use it heavily like Deceit 2. This problem has popped up out of nowhere, I’ve tried different games, different controllers, different settings, wired headset, wireless headset. I’ve read almost all existing threads about this and almost none of them work. I am desperately asking for help, it’s driving me nuts.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues using the party chat feature of Xbox. Please make sure that your Xbox settings are configured properly. These communication settings can be adjusted to limit who you want to chat with.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system.

2. Select Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customise.

3. Select Communication & multiplayer, and then review the settings for the following to make sure that they are set to Friends or Everyone:

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites

You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text

You can use video for communications

Note: If you're connected to a Discord voice channel on your Xbox console, your party chat status will say “Discord” and the name of the voice channel that you're in. If you want to join or start an Xbox party chat, disconnect from the Discord voice channel so that you can switch over to game or party chat. If you found these settings allowed, continue to these steps to reset your audio settings:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output > Audio Testing & Details > Reset audio settings

Thank you for the update. Does this happen only with Deceit 2?

You mentioned that it's working normally on party chat, whenever you switch ON the toggle to "Switch to game chat", what does happen?

So I’ve already checked my settings, I reset the audio stuff. None of it fixed my game chat problem.

This same issue has been ongoing for months. My son can hear his friends but his mic doesnt work.

The “fix” where you turn off the mic and push to talk in fortnite settings would occasionaly work bit now doesnt.

all other games and apps work with the mic.

The problem persists on another xbox signed in with his profile, using a different headset, so this is not a hardware issue.

other profiles on his xbox have no issues with sound/mic

this is an issue effecting certian profiles accross fortnite only party chat, xbox party chat works fine, which cant be used for crossplatform party play.

Just start a party chat then your mic audio doesnt run through the game.
