Game Capture Settings

Here are my settings:

allow game captures: captures by me

record what happened: 5 minutes

automatically upload: captures by me

game clip resolution: 720p SDR

Capture location: internal

Try going into Settings, Preferences, and then Capture & Share.

From there check to see if under Capture in the first block that says, "Allow game captures", and see if it either shows: "Captures by me or games" or "Capture by me."

If it says, "Don't capture", then change it to either one of the other two options.

To change your capture settings, press the Start button, and then select Settings > Gaming > Captures. The following sections cover the capture settings you can adjust.

On this screen it is possible to change the recording size, activation and microphone volume.

After OS version - 10.0.18363.7194 (19h1_release_xbox_dev_1910.18363.7194.190929-1945) Release date 10/8/2019; whe got the
new feature:

Flexible capture settings

You now have more control over what gets captured and recorded in games. In Settings > Preferences > Capture & share, choose between “Captures by me,” “Captures by me or games,” and “Don’t
capture.”

Try to change that.

This happened to me as well. I tested Red Dead redemption and screen captures worked fine on that game but not on COD modern warfare.

Thought it was maybe something within the modern warfare game.

However, I use an external storage drive in addition to internal drive and I seem to have fixed it by simply adjusting screen capture location in two different places on the Xbox One

1) Go to Capture Settings (Xbox button, RB twice to 'Capture & Share), then go down to 'capture settings' and choose drive you wish to use for capture location.

Then

2) Go to System settings (Xbox button, RB three times to 'System' and go to Settings->system->storage then highlight same drive you chose in step 1) and press A button, go down and choose 'set as capture location'

I suspect that COD looks at the settings in my Step 2) to do storage of screen captures because once I selected a drive for capture location here, the COD screen caps started behaving correctly.

Other games were capturing correctly because they probably just look at the generic capture settings in my Step 1) for their information.

Seems to have fixed things for me.
