    Hi,

    I'm posting about the screenshot feature on Xbox One, relating to an issue I'm having with saving my screenshots - the console refuses to save half of them and tells me 'sorry' - but also in relation to the functionality of the screenshot feature.

    If anyone can tell me how to overcome the save issue that would be great, but just yesterday the console self-deleted about forty screenshots that I wanted to keep. A faulty save feature combined with a delete command that's out of my control make for quite
    a ludicrous problem.

    Most importantly, I have to ask, why is it necessary to save screenshots in the first place? Why does the console have to delete them? Why do I have no control over it? Screenshots are important to me, I greatly enjoy compiling a playthrough via screenshots,
    and the fact that my console can randomly decide to delete what i capture seems crazy, especially when supported by an inexplicably unreliable save system. I'm perfectly capable of deleting the shots i don't want, having to save the ones i do want is an unnecessary
    complication from my perspective.

    Aside from that, having to select which game to browse every time i switch in and out of the manager is a pain, shouldn't that choice just have to be made once?

    As I said this is an important feature to me and I'd like to see it improved to a more user-friendly state, or at the very least - i'm sure you can understand - to a point where it can no longer undo the work I've put in.

    Cannot save screenshots

    So I've been having this problem for a while now. Every time I want to save a screenshot, it would save "capture not saved: sorry, the capture you selected was not saved, please try again." I tried some suggestions such as hard resetting my xbox, but it
    did not work. Is anyone else here here experiencing the same issue of saving screenshots? This has been getting my nerves for about 2 months or so now. The games I'd take screenshots for would be WWE 2K16 and GTA 5.

    Can't Save or Share Captures/Screenshots on my Xbox One, when I press "Start" on a video or screenshot I've made, the only options I have are "Set Background, Delete, Help, and Switch User". If I click Manage>Save it tells me that the capture or "Captures"
    we're not saved, plz try again later" PLEASE HELP!!

    I have a simular issue. I accidentally deleted my "Captures" folder. And now all my captures are being saved to '\AppData\Local\Temp'

    I want I created a new Captures folder in my videos, however all my screenshots and video captures are still being saved in 'Temp'

    Why would Microsoft think it was a good idea to delete peoples captures that they've been saving?

    Thank you for reaching out to the forum. There are some limitations on screenshots and video capturing.

    • You can upload up to 10 GB of captures to Xbox Live. Once you reach those limits, the oldest captures will be removed as you save new ones (first in, first out).

    • Any game clip or screenshot uploaded to Xbox Live that gets no views in 30 days will be deleted. Viewing it yourself counts as a view, and saves a capture from deletion.

    • Captures you don't upload to Xbox Live will remain on the console they were recorded on.

    • Xbox One consoles hold up to 800 MB of screen shots and 8 GB of game clips. Once you reach those limits, the oldest captures will be removed when you save new captures (first in, first out).

    That might be the reason for your current issue.

    9-days-old Captures Missing

    Hi Ricardo,

    As I mentioned in a separate reply, it appears that these captures were not deleted and I can still view them on my Xbox if I filter my captures for screenshots. The issue is screenshots older than 9 days are not viewable on the Xbox app or the Xbox console companion on Windows, meaning I cannot save any of the older screenshots to my computer or phone.

    Edit: To be clear, all of the screenshots in question were uploaded to the Xbox network.
