  1. Game bar not automatically turning on mic

For a long time now I’ve tried to use game bar to clip cool moments in games, but a few months ago it just stopped recording my microphone audio. It have it set to capture all audio, my input and output devices are correct, all my pc audio devices are set up correctly. I’m pretty sure it’s just a problem with game bar. I tried recording a video instead of clipping, then during the recording I checked if the mic was active and it wasn’t. I turned it on and it recorded my voice. The thing is, I’m not able to go into the game bar menu and turn it on when I clip something. It should always be active but it turns off the second I clip or record something. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I know you said you've edited your registry, but please recheck. I had the same problem because "AllowGameDVR" was missing.

    1. Type in "registry editor" in windows search bar, right click and run as administrator.

    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\

Choose "GameDVR" from the right panel and change "AllowGameDVR" to 1.

If there isn't a GameDVR folder follow the below steps:

    • Right click the empty area, choose "New" and then "Key"
    • Name it to GameDVR. It makes a new key / "folder".
    • Inside the GameDVR key, right click the empty area again, click "New" and choose "DWORD 32".
    • Name it to "AllowGameDVR". Double click it and set it to 1.

    3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore

Double click "GameDVR_Enabled" and change it to 1.

    4. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR

Double click on AppCaptureEnabled and set it to 1.

If your game bar still isn't working:

Follow these steps by removing each DWORD value and adding them back:

Type in "registry editor" in windows search bar, right click and run as administrator.

    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\

You should see a “GameDVR" folder to the left click on it and "AllowGameDVR" should be in there. If not, don’t worry we're adding it back now.

If you have both, delete the “GameDVR” folder and
“AllowGameDVR” inside of it and follow instructions below:

    • Right click the empty area, choose "New" and then "Key"

    • Right click on the new key/folder and rename it to GameDVR

    • Inside the GameDVR key/folder right click on the empty area, and choose “DWORD 32”

    • Right click on the newly added one and rename it back to "AllowGameDVR". Double click it and set it back to 1

    3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore

Delete "GameDVR_Enabled" then right click the empty area, click "New" and choose "DWORD 32” rename it back to GameDVR_Enabled

double click it and set the value back to 1.

(IF YOU DON’T HAVE THIS FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO ADD IT BACK)

    4. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR

Delete “AppCaptureEnabled” then right-click the empty area, click "New" and choose "DWORD 32” and rename it back to AppCaptureEnabled and set it back to 1.

(DO THIS SAME STEP IF YOU DONT HAVE IT TO ADD IT BACK)

    5. Restart, let me know if this helps.

Might need to see if your anti virus is blocking it for whatever reason.

Are you talking about Game Mode in the Gaming section of Windows settings, or Game Bar? What happens when you push the Win Key+G? You can try and reset the Game Bar app. Go to the app in your Start menu, right click the Game Bar app icon, select more,
app settings, then here you can reset and repair the Game Bar app. Also check the Windows Store for any app updates for the Game Bar.
