Game-Bar does not record/playback even after all possible fixes

Game Bar names recordings after the app it was recording, so in this case it was recording the Control Panel.

Game Bar can only record one app window, it will record the app which was focused when you started the recording. It cannot switch to recording another app after you begin recording.

I'm afraid it won't be possible to fix this recording. Game Bar only recorded that specific window; you can't go back and change that as any other data was not captured during the recording.

If you wish to record your whole screen, I recommend using a different recording app such as OBS. Game Bar is designed for recording games, hence why it can only capture one window at a time.

Thanks for replying to the initial question. I am another user that is experiencing the same issue. In my case, it happens some times that even when I had setup Xbox Game Bar, did everything you recommended to do, all the way to enabling the 'All' settings, my recording does not playback audio. This has happened to me in the past, but I can't identify exactly what causes this problem.

So my question for you is... Is there a way to "recover" the sound supposedly recorded?

Hey! Thanks for the tip and when I looked and did the steps I found that it was already enabled. I then tested it again and got the same results. I'm not sure why this is happening as I even used the mic on playback while recording on the Xbox game bar, and through the playback, I heard the higher quality of the mic. But then, I checked the file and it was still significantly less quality.

I assume by the 'playback feature' you mean the record time? The Windows Game Bar maximum record time that can be set is 4hrs. This can be changed in Windows Settings > Gaming > Captures.

The Windows Game-Bar uses a video recording codec that requires the file to be finalised in order for it to be saved. This means that either if the recording is stopped via the Game Bar or the recording ends on its own once the maximum time is reached, the file should save. If for some reason there a fault or a system crash, the video recording won't save as it won't complete the 'finalising' process.

Xbox game bar doesn't work in all games or resolutions, try switching to windowed mode and see if that fixes the problem.

Many games simply use technology that does not allow recording. Rest your mouse cursor over the recording icon and it will tell you the reason.
