Game And Party Chat Don't Come Through Capture Card To PC

The latest xbox update messed things up for console streamers, like myself. Since the update 2 weeks ago, I am not longer able to bring party or game chat through xbox to elgato capture card to streaming computer unless my headset is unplugged. While my astro a50 are hdmi plugged into the xbox, I only get chat in my headset but not to capture card transfer. As soon as I unplug my headset, it will go through. I have tried all the headset and speakers settings on xbox, the game (COD Warzone), elgato capture software, and stream labs obs on pc that I use to stream onto twitch. I spoke to someone at microsoft on Wednesday and he told me that it was due to xbox latest update with effecting console players with my issue. Please flip the switch to whatever part of the code that was the culprit for making this mistake. All this makes me want to do is either go to playstation or get a computer. I know that kinda helps you out since, microsoft but you are telling the console players to basically just deal with the fact you can't have all your content come through unless you lose out on a different function.

Please fix as soon as possible or give a suggestion for how/why this is happening. I am willing to look at or try anything that I haven't already watched, read or was told to try but help is greatly appreciated.

Same i have hd60s when i disconnect the mic i hear game chat so frustating

Same issue but I'm using Razer Ripsaw and my headset is Turtle Beach Stealth 700s. Terrible that this hasn't been dealt with yet...I've had this problem for months now and have never gotten an answer from Microsoft about the issue.

Thanks for reaching out to the Xbox forums! I'm really sorry to hear that you're struggling with getting game/party audio to come through your capture card and into your stream.

I used to own Astro A50's and I also use Streamlabs OBS when I stream - so I hope that I can offer you some suggestions that will help. I think there may be a few more factors in play here than just an Xbox update.

First, the only issue with the most recent update regarding optical audio (which is how the Astro A50 connects to the Xbox, not HDMI) would only be applicable if you had no party/game chat whatsoever coming through your headset. Since you do, and it just isn't coming through to the card, the issue here most likely isn't with an update. I confirmed this with one of our bug/error leads that is tracking the optical audio bug themselves. We both believe that the issue may be residing with the Astro A50's or the Elgato Capture Card.

Have you tried updating the firmware for both the headset and the capture card? Typically, when an update for a console/PC is released - 3rd party companies release a firmware update for their products so that said products are compatible with the new update. Similar to how GeForce releases a driver update when a new game comes out, or a large update such as the CoD Season 5 Warzone update, so that the graphics cards in PCs are optimized for the release. Try updating the firmware for both the headset and the capture card and see if that fixes anything.

Elgato's support site says to not update the firmware unless recommended by an Elgato technical support rep, so I would reach out to them just to be sure. The support article on updating firmware for Elgato is below:

Additionally, when you say that audio works when the headset is unplugged - do you mean when the base is unplugged from the console or when the headset is unplugged from the base, i.e when the headset is wireless? That answer my help my troubleshooting.

Have you figured this out? Now I'm having this problem. Worked fine and now Iose gamechat when I turn my headphones on

I am having this issue as well. Let me tell you what I discovered. If I do not use my headset I can capture party chat AND game chat. Once I connect my headset I am only able to capture party chat. I use the avermedia Livegamer 4k GC573. I used to be able to capture it all but now I cant. So how you can say it is a capture card update is crazy to me,

Avermedia never updates this thing and there has been a few updates on my series x. Up until recently this worked. Then out of no where it just stopped. Nothing has changed setting wise for anything on my end. I did notice that the audio options menu is now different and it is forcing me into "audio settings are being optimized for headset" bla blah blah now. Was never like this before.
