Game and App updates

I appreciate your efforts. Our last resort here would be to perform a factory reset. There's an option to keep your games and apps though. This is to correct any potentially corrupted data. It's not guaranteed to fix the issue but we could try.

If you don't want to do that, best option is to wait instead and make sure that auto-update is enabled for your games and apps.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates.
Under Updates, select Keep my console up to date to update your console automatically and Keep my games & apps up to date to update games and apps automatically.

I followed the directions as provided. I removed my account,powered down and rebooted,then added my account back in. After I followed all of the setup screens I checked again and I'm still showing 1 update on the left panel but 0 updates found on the right panel

Do you know or see which app or game needs update? It may only be an error and there shouldn't be any updates available yet.

Note: Before doing these steps, please make sure that you know exactly the email address linked with your gamertag and the password to it so you can add the correct account again.

1. Remove account:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Select System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts. Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm. When you're finished, select Close.

2. Power cycle:
Press and hold Xbox's power button for 10 sec. Unplug the power supply for 30 sec. Plug it back in and turn it on again.

3. Add account:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Select your gamerpic in the upper-left corner of the screen, move all the way down and select Add new.

Enter the email address for the Microsoft account that you want to add, and then select Enter.

To add to Onyx' solution, when you've gone to Settings/Power&Startup you first need to make sure the power settings are "Instant On" and NOT "Energy Saving" and then enable the setting he mentions.

That way, your console will download game and OS updates during the night when it is not being used and you don't have to wait for updates each time you start a game.

Doing this will also allow you to initiate a download remotely (via Smartglass or Xbox.com) and the console will begin downloading immediately, so it may be done by the time you get home.

Not really sure how that would help though, I mean if Microsoft received nine app updates at one go, and the after testing them pushed them out at the same time, and "update all" button would still find nine apps that needed updating.
