Game and App switching

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this or if anyone else has, but why can't the Xbox One install the full game from the disk so you don't have to switch disks when changing to other games. The Xbox Ones main selling points is the ability too
switch between apps and games seemlessly, this only works if you bought the digital copies of the disk. I know what most people will say is thst this prevents the hard drive from being filled up, we'll that goes to it should be the users choice to install
full game or run from disk. This in my head wouldn't be thst hard of a switch or patch to create. A big portion of the Xbox One's processing power is on standby for switch so this change will let us utilize this feature more. This really comes up from me
having been in a leg cast for 2 months and moving to change games was such a pain and I thought of this idea and I never actually expressed it anywhere.

Has anybody tried swapping the sticks in the app and switching back?

 

Suspend and resume does not work.

I tried the following 5 times and the game was terminated each time:

(NOTE: i browsed each app for 2 to 3 minutes, opening videos etc, before switching to the next)

Load game.

Opened apps in this order: IE, TWITCH, DEMAND 5, 4OD, XBOX VIDEO, MACHINIMA, UPLOAD, ONEDRIVE, SKYPE, IE.

Back to game, game terminated.

I would greatly appreciate if you could test this out, and remember to let each app fully load before switching.

Well I can definitely say that u can play your game offline but if you want to play games with your profile you cannot play offline I've experienced this multiple times when xbox live had user sign on issues and I could never sign on until it was fixed.
The En portion that gamers were raving about was the "locking of games" or the ability not to share them this has nothing to do with what I'm requesting. The ability to choose whether to play the game with or without the disk especially for online only games.
I personally bought and pre ordered 2 games not realizing there was no campaign mode. If I would've known thst I would have never bought the actual disks just the download version so I could easily switch between. I'm talking about P vs Z (yes u can play
against the computer but it'd not a campaign type mode) and Titanfall.

 

Hello again SIXGUN. Originally, the plan was to be able to install the game from the disc and then never need the disc again. This is one of the changes that took place at the same time as the other changes listed in the article posted above. It's true that
some games cannot be played offline, even if you're signed in. Those games are online-only (such as Titanfall), which is called out in the games' descriptions.

 

And I know about titanfall but I'm talking about BF4 campaign that when xbox live had sign in issues I couldn't even sign in locally on my Xbox One to play my game. This issue happened as recently as last month for me. You can not sign into your account
locally and play games under your profile. How can this happen considering that the 360 allowed it. Did we step backwards in capability?

 

You should be able to sign into your profile without being connected to Xbox Live. What happens when you try? What error message appears?

Once you're signed in, and as long as your console is designated as your Home console, then you should be able to play games offline which do not require an Xbox Live connection.

 

Discs are fully installed to the hard drive. The disc is just used for validation purposes, as Misses Joust pointed out. Technically, you can install the game using the disc, and then buy a digital license to have game switching (but would require you to
buy two copies of the game).

The instances that you were talking about, when Xbox Live was down and being unable to sign into Xbox Live are being fixed. If it happens again, disconnect your Xbox One from the internet, and you should be able to log in just fine. I believe MajorNelson
mentioned the devs were in the process of fixing it the last time it happened; because it happens so infrequently, it probably isn't a huge priority for them.
