G27 wheel - manual shift - race alway starts with 4th gear

I´m using a Logitech G27 with manual shifting on. Unfortunately every race starts with the 4th gear, so I have to shift down to 1st gear to start.

Forza 5 Backward compatibility with Xbox 360 wireless ff wheel

I have always been a pc racer and used my trusty G27 which did my job well and i was pleased with it, then i joined the Console club and bought the xbox one , after playing forza 5 for 1 month with the controller i have since taken the plunge into buying
the TX as i seen it for £250 in the uk as apposed to the original price of £350.

Pedals "operate" as good as if not better than the G27 EXCEPT there is NO clutch pedal on the standard set that comes with the wheel ( A money spinning exercise IMO to get more from you via buying the extra pedals set AND THE SHIFTER. )

The wheel IS BETTER than the G27 IMO or else Forza 5 makes better use of the wheel , it appears to be built far heavier / bigger than the G27 (more the size of the fanatec wheel )

Positive points of the wheel : Good FFB , well build and pretty quiet , and does what its meant to do wheel wise.

Negative points of the wheel : Short lead BUT a usb extension sorts that out , With the wheel you have to use kinect for coms chat (atm) as there is no where on the wheel to plug in your heatset and if you turn on the 2nd controller to use the headset ,
both it and the wheel conflict. so that is the biggest drawback atm. the fact that someone is trying to make more £££$$$ from not including the gear shifter / clutch pedal set as "ADDONS" is taking the *** and cleary a way of trying to maximize profit.

so would i buy the wheel again ??? YES as long as the price is right. and deff would not pay more than £250

Using 2 input devices

Hi,

I am using a G27 wheel and h pattern shifter with Fanatec (USB) CSR Elite pedals on my PC, all sims on the pc see the G27 and the CSR Elite pedal except for Forza 6 Apex. As there is no adaptor available to run the pedals on the G27 I am forced to use USB
for the pedal.

How do I get Forza 6 Apex to see my wheel and the USB pedals.

Any of the racing games that offer manual gear shifting and support the G920 will work with the manual gear shifter. Forza, Project Cars etc

To get feedback from the speed wheel, I have to turn it off and back on, and then the game will recognize it as the regular MS wheel (I use option 5 for regular wheel so the shifting is done through buttons). If it recognizes it as the speed wheel, there
is no rumble for me. Basically, it appears to be backwards.

I consider myself more on the hard core side when it comes to racing games/simulations and I'm still really enjoying the speed wheel. I got tired of switching back and forth between my G27 for iracing and the regular MS wheel when I wanted to do Forza.
This is a nice compromise between the controller and MS wheel if you don't feel like setting things up or are just getting started into racing.

I race a lot online (PC and console) and for me when using a controller, I turn the manual clutch off

I applaud you for using the manual clutch, I race with people who do that and they are very fast.

I always use manual shifting.

I used the Manual Clutch for a long time and for me, there is just too much going on with the controller already.

For example: keeping a consistent racing line while trail braking and then throwing another button press on top of that. That is too much for me. I try and brake late and keep momentum through the corners.

Manual Clutch helps with acceleration and braking (quicker shift times) which definitely helps.

When racing with a wheel and pedals, I use the clutch.

Racing with a wheel and pedals is like being a drummer.

It will take some practice.

Don't forget to blip the throttle on downshift.

The rumble effects on the Microsoft wireless speed wheel (the U shaped one) seems to be non existant when playing Forza 4. When I use the wheel, I set all the assists except the transmission(manual). So, when I start the round, there is no rumble effects.
Only when I hit a wall does the controller vibrate. I found out that restarting the wheel(holding guide button and turning off controller and turning it back on) gives the vibration function back, but all the button mappings get reset. After I restart it,
I no longer have the ability to shift gears. The D pad only shows telemetry.

Can someone that owns a Microsoft Wireless speed wheel confirm whether this happens to you?

I too have had this issue on multiple occasions. What seems to actually be the problem is that the game is starting to recognize the Wireless Speed Wheel as the actual full Microsoft Race wheel (you can tell when this happens by going to the controls menu
to see a diagram of the original Race Wheel). Which is why the d-pad starts to show the Telemetry instead of allowing you to shift, because that is the mapping on the full Race wheel (and the shifting is mapped to the bumpers, which the Speed Wheel does not
have).

Really really hope that this issue gets fixed as I am thoroughly enjoying the Speed Wheel, but playing in Automatic transmission so I avoid this issue is not as fun.
