Future proofing my profile

Hi, I was recently in a situation where my profile got corrupted locally on my X Box One. I was in an area without internet access so when I tried to create a temporary new profile I got the message that one could not be created because I was offline.

I'm a keen gamer who likes to hold to to all my old consoles. I still have my original Xbox and my 360 and occasionally still use them to this day. Im now a little concerned about the longevity of my Xbox One. I get that the profile details
are stored online so a connection is needed if a corruption ever occurs, but is that profile associated with my Microsoft account or the Xbox Live service?

The reason this is important to me is that if my profile is separate Xbox Live day my use of Xbox One could be in jeopardy when Microsoft no longer supports the One. If it's simply my Microsoft account am I right in thinking the console will be good for as
long as I keep my Microsoft account?

Future-proofing isn't a bad thing. Remember, the 360 didn't release with an HDMI port.

Security proofs

I keep getting asked to put in a code for security proofing but i cant access my other email account. I tried to update the security information on my xbox 360 but it gave me this error code 80151103. I do not understand this because this is a downloading
profile error code not a security proofing code.

Hello,

Your Gamertag/profile is tied to Live. It will always be there unless you do not sign in for 5 years in that case ONLY the gamertag will be changed but the ACCOUNT will be safe and attached to your email.

I have had my Gamertag/profile since the 360 days. As long as Xbox Live is around that tag is you online.

Think of your account as your Video Game Drivers licence.

Thanks for the reply zero. That clears things up for me. I should have realised really because I've had my profile since 2006 and it still works for my 360, so I don't know why I thought the One would be any different. Thanks for confirming though.

[/quote]That couldn't be more untrue. PCs don't need constant upgrading to be future proofed. It all depends on their needs. My dad's single core Pentium IV 2.6GHz computer with a Nvidia 6200 more than does what he needs still after 6+ years. For gaming at
1920x1080 and getting 30-60fps on medium-high presets. You are fine if you are still running Intel's and Nvidia's older tech. My laptop right now is already more powerful than the X1 and PS4. I bought it just under a year ago. If consoles are designed for
future proofing, then PCs are already future proofed because the hardware out there right now already blows away the next-gen consoles.
