    FS 2020 Crashes with Xbox Controller active


    I have a new AlienWare R16 with a 4070 and Windows 11.

    FS 2020 keeps crashing and I've re-installed it 4 times now, including today's 14 release. I've reinstalled Nvidia drivers, downgraded drivers, system file check, all that good stuff. The faulting module is always NTDLL.DLL

    I finally found the root cause but I don't know how to fix. The cause is the XBOX wireless controller.

    If FS2020 starts with the controller connected, the game will crash two seconds after the Normal/Safe mode selection.

    FS2020 starts and plays fine as long as the controller is not connected. The second it pairs with the PC, FS2020 crashes to desktop.

    I have tried unpairing and repairing and also updating the firmware on the Xbox Wireless Controller.

    So far the only way to play the game without crashing is without a controller. Open to ideas as I'm out of them.

    The solution was to delete cloud saves. The cloud profile kept installing a corrupt controller profile on every reinstall.

    There is no obvious way to do this in the GUI, but I found a way to do it with the following command:

    start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves

    By the way I completely uninstalled the game once more, making sure the directory structure was deleted.

    Then I reinstalled the game and started it while the controller was connected. Instant crash
