FS 2004

    I am still trying to get help. I am trying the few places i hope can do that.

    Problem: I have an old Windows 7 desktop and was running FS2004 for a long time.

    MS had an update (KB3086255) that conflicted with and froze FS2004. Not many knew of that.

    I tried to tell as many as I could but didn't have the proper outlet. ONCE that update was deleted

    the FS worked great for a LONG time even after the support for 7 stopped. Recently.....first week of May 2023....FS2004 stopped. Not sure if MS stopped supporting that OR many another update is causing the problem. Anyone know of another "fix ?" OR

    Will FS2004 work on Windows 10 (many say no....same ones that didn't know of the previous fix)

    Wonder if it will work on 10 if the same KB is deleted and run on compatibility setting for XP

    OR If I am forced to get a new computer and new FS.....I am told (don't know) the new versions are basically fighter jets....dog fights etc etc. The 2004 as you are aware had regular jets... airports throughout the world and were able to "fly" from New York to Chicago or Hong Kong with Air Traffic Control.....there were also "side shows" to fly OLD OLD OLD planes....land on aircraft carriers.etc etc But I still want the old stuff. Anyone know. Any help or advice will be appreciated.

    Hello bro, I hope You be ok. In found an error where the "msvcrt.dll" file was missing, so I downloaded and pasted the file into fs9 main directory and it works fine! try to copy in windows too

    Gee thanks for your reply MONTHS after I needed help. Not sure if your remedy will

    work but I will keep it handy just in case Sounds like more few technical moves than most of us should try.. The REAL answer as I have tried to pass on to as many as I could...but didn't have the proper format. MS had a security update years ago KB3086255 that conflicted with FS 2004.

    To make FS2004 work all you need to do is delete that update. One simple step.

    It has a tendency to reappear from time to time based on updates. BUT

    deleting it will will let you run on Windows 7.

    Hello Manuel,

    I have the absolute same issue here.

    I bought a new external SSD HD, on USB 3.0, installed Win10 (Version 2004).

    The System is connected with my MS Store account. After downloading successfully the FS 2020 premium Deluxe, after installing i get that same unexpected error message Code: 0x8007001F.

    All Drivers are actual.

    I still don´t now what to do....

    Currently, the backwards compatibility program is on hold, so no new titles are being added to the program. Instead, Microsoft is currently preparing on making these games compatible with the upcoming Xbox Series X console.
