Frustration over XBOX Video and Movie Apps

Does anyone ever wish there was a movie section for everything? One app to find all movies? Now when you go into the Xbox One Dashboard, it is very confusing as to where you are within the Movie store. For example, are you searching across all apps?
Or are you within xbox video? Often if you are not paying attention it is impossible to tell by looking at the current screen.

I often cringe when my girlfriend tries to search for a movie because she fumbles around between the two and I have to attempt to make a rational explanation to what to do.



I get that Microsoft wants us to us xbox video and that is why it gets so confusing but now in 2014 why can’t they have every movie ever made available?

Apple just has one place for everything… nice and easy.

I am certainly not an Apple fan, but does anyone else feel my pain?

Hey there Super,

If you're downloading your rented and purchased movies through the Xbox Video app, then all of your movies should be saved there under My Videos.

If you're streaming using different apps, that content is specific to each of those apps and you won't be able to consolidate it all in one place.

 

iOS And Android Need Dedicated Video Apps

I find it crazy that there hasn't been a dedicated video app for Xbox purchases on iOS and Android. I purchase all my movies on Xbox Movies And TV, formerly known as Xbox Video. Who else would like to see this implemented in the future?

I went ahead and created a topic on User Voice. So hopefully it grows and people support it. Would love to see this actually happen.

 

Well if you go to Xbox Video and search within the app you are only searching Xbox Video. If you use the Search option on the Home screen you are searching all available apps. Seems pretty simple.

 

No, I have no issues going through Xbox Video on Xbox One

 

I glossed over the part about your girlfriend, but properly educating her on how to use the system will go a long way and reduce your stress levels. My wife knows how to use Xbox One, 360, and PS3 because she has taken the time to learn.

 

Only issue I have with xbox video is there no longer seems to be a section for renting.

You can seemingly only rent if the option appears on the movie or show you have selected.

Or of course if the last chance rentals tile shows up which is typical beginning and end week of the month.

I rent movies more often than purchase and I always choose xbox video over any third party.. But this is slightly frustrating and steering me away.

 

The only issue I have is the fact you can't download film's anymore, only stream..... which is no good with My crappy broadband.

 

That is a really good point Goat.. Also they advertised watching videos and listening to music on any device... Well it seems I cannot watch my shows on any other device than my Xbox's!

What's up with that?

 

Hmm considering you can use xbox video and music on devices that arent xbox I would say its an accurate statement.
