Frustrated with Xbox One...is 360 a better choice?

We bought the Xbox One for our family for Christmas. We have been very frustrated ever since. We have a number of issues and basically just want to play some games. We have a six year old that wants to play Madden and a few other kid games, every game
we put in a disc is constantly updating, initializing, running into errors, can't complete operations etc., etc. We have been waiting and waiting just to play. We could care less about being connected to the internet and would actually prefer not to be as
I feel like it is complicating things. I have very little experience in gaming consoles. I never played anything growing up and we recently had a Wii for a few years and that's about it. Do you think a 360 would be a better fit for a young family that just
wants to casually play some games? Do you have to be connected to the internet to play the 360?

As a person who can't speak very well (speech impediment), doesn't play xbox live, hates kinect

I have a clift lift pallet which is a speech impediment, i am frustrated with this as well. I hope Microsoft comes up with an update to better recognize voices better such as the android devices that i own. I am still a loyal Xbox 360 and xbox one owner,
plus Microsoft windows, please don't make me change my mind, get your voice recognition software up to the times, before i unfortunately exchange my 360, Xbox one and the 30 games i have for a PS4.

Yes I cut n pasted it here, I thought the other thread was dead once I realised the last post b4 mine was dec last year.

Forza has no such option. When I tried playing head to head all that happened was one car on screen which we could both control which is pointless.

Bf4 last time I checked (3months ago) was useless unless you like playing alone on line. If that's the case I'll fire it up tonight and get my friends to do the same

 

Well, if you are running into that many issues, I would suggest that maybe the 360 would be a better choice if you are just some casual gamers that just want to pop a game in and play. But I think xbox live support for the 360 will be going away in 2016
so you have to weigh that in.

 

The Xbox 360 sounds like the better choice if you want to play offline and not worry about large updates.

 

Running into many of the same issues. We have a Wii and a 360 and now we have the One. So far I haven't seen anything on the One that's better than the 360. Some things are different and several features require that you purchase a Kinect, but new and different
doesn't necessarily equal better. And the worst thing about the One is that there's no family timer like there is on the 360 so the only way to keep kids off of it is to lock down the whole console with a passcode. So my teenage son who was limited to an hour
per day will now have to wait until someone gets home from work each day and by then it'll be time to do homework. So by eliminating the timer, all Microsoft did was guarantee less playing time for kids and more aggravation for parents.

 

Surely the solution would be for your teenage son to do his homework when he gets home. He can then game when you get back. Just switching the order is a simple solution.

It's worth remembering though that the 360 has had near ten years to become the console it has. That Microsoft didn't think to copy over features is a little unbelievable.

 

Last gen still has a lot to offer in my opinion and like some one has already said the latest tech isn't always a improvement. Just the last few days goes to prove a always online connected console has it's drawbacks. You might want to consider a PS3 if
Bizarro is right as Sony has a history of supporting past generations longer.

 

Just upgraged to xb1 from 360 had since boxing day still havent managed to play one game yet! Want to rebox and return for refund... 360 much better and you dont have to be online if you dont want to be to play a game
