Friends unable to connect to my Minecraft world.

Thank you so much for posting this up in the Xbox Forums.

I wanted to confirm with you that if you are playing on Windows 10 [Win10] you do not need an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to play games online. This applies to the Win10 version of Minecraft.

I've ran into this matter myself, granted I was attempting to play with 3 of my friends. One of them was in my same household, but the other one was else where. The steps we took to troubleshoot had us configure some changes on my friends router in order
for all of us to play online. To do this, we had to open up some network ports for Xbox Live.

The ports stated above claim that they are for Xbox One, but they are universal and will potentially provide the solution that we seek. These ports can both be applied to both of your routers in order to have a better gaming experience over Xbox Live. Go
ahead and give this a shot, and please come back and let us know the results of your test!

He doesn't have xbox live gold because he doesn't play on xbox. He plays windows 10 version on PC. Would him not having gold make him unable to join me but still allow me to join him?

Is one of you running the beta client available through the Xbox Insider Program? That some times prohibits people from joining by giving them the error "outdated server" or something along those lines. If that's the case who ever has it needs to unenroll
their game from it or the other person needs to download it.

If that isn't it try checking to if both of y'all have Xbox Gold, maybe?
