    Friends to play minecraft on Xbox one


    Hello I have a nine year old boy who got minecraft for the Xbox one for Christmas but he doesn't have anyone to play with. I'm useless at it and obviously want to make sure that he plays with age appropriate people. I'm not sure how to help him. Can anyone
    help me - he's really keen to play with someone else. Also is it very easy to work out how to join with other people. Sorry for being total hopeless at minecraft!

    He will only be able to play with people on his friend's list because people just invite each other to their worlds. You can usually find threads within this forum with parents looking for children to play with their children. Just take the usual precautions.

    Hi there!

    Make sure that you have "Minecraft" on your Xbox one console or "Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition" on your PC in order to be able to play with your friend. If you have "Minecraft: Xbox One edition", then you can go to the store and download "Minecraft" to play
    with your friends :)

    Thanks. Is there a way they can play together? We just purchased the XBox so he could play with friends who have Xbox. We have a playstation with which he can crossplatform play minecraft with these friends, but that's a little bit of a clunky process. ...
    Just to confirm what you wrote:

    Your son WAS ABLE to play with THESE SAME friends through his Playstation 4 version of Minecraft?

    If so, then those friends certainly have the "new" Bedrock Version of Minecraft.

    In that case, check that your son is in fact playing "Minecraft" on the Xbox One (the Minecraft WITHOUT the "Xbox One Version" in the name)

    It can also be possible that your son joined the Xbox Insiders Program and is playing a newer Beta version of Minecraft, that his friends don't have.

    So when your son and his friends start Minecraft, they should check the Version number of the game shown on the title screen.

    Minecraft.

    My son occasionally uses the Minecraft Xbox One Edition to play with a friend who never switched for some reason. Everything I have discussed is about Minecraft, and not Minecraft Xbox One Edition.

    There is the Older minecraft xbox one edition and the Minecraft bedrock edition which when you hover over it is just called "Minecraft" Your sons friends might be playing on the older one while your son has a different version
    So the only way they could play this game together is if his friends update their minecraft? Is that right?
