Friends System Needs Work

This has been bothering me since the beginning of the xbox one era. Can we go back to the friend requests system because I am not a fan of random gamers following me. Or at least add an option that gives us a choice to either have our accounts private
or public. If private, gamers will have to request to add me as a friend or something like how instagram does when you put your account on private. I work at a school where I can’t have these high schoolers following me on Xbox.

I do not. Is the option to report a message only on the Xbox one? For 360 it only gives me the option to just report them via their profile. & yes, that seems to happen, I just wish advisers would start looking at the entirety of the conversation and not
just the reported message, especially if it's obvious it's in response to something malicious. Like say someone has a death date to a family member in their bio and the guy you just beat in a game messages you making fun of said dead relative, you respond
with hateful words telling them off and you get suspended because you're the only one that got reported? It just seems ridiculous especially with the Xbox one update that shows you message history now.

You have admitted that you send messages back, they in turn report you for your messages. You just fell into the trap as you are harassing them. You maybe just responding, but two wrongs don't make a right. Report them via their profile for communications,
block them.

Hi, if you do not like randoms following you, you can block them if you wish, that should stop them following you. More info here

I agree the last several months i keep getting invites and messages from users i have never played with as i mostly play single player games i am very selective on who i add to my friends list. I also fee that these people are pat of a scam to try and gain
access to your account or worse yet access to children. As all of the requests come from accounts with ZERO achievement points and ask the same question and have cut paste response asking personal ASL. Xbox needs to do something about this

Just block them then you are no longer on their friends list & they can't send you invites.

Or set up your privacy settings so you only receive messages/invites from your friends.

Let's try to isolate this issue so that we could figure out why your friends show offline on the Xbox app. It is possible that they appeared offline in the game because of a network issue. Can you tell us when did you notice this issue? Also, may I know
the troubleshooting steps that you have tried so far?

In the meantime, I suggest that you check the network status on your Xbox app so that we could verify if this has something to do with connecting to the Xbox server.
