Friends set to showing Online but appearing Offline, no privacey changes have been made.

Two of my friends have issues with "Online/Offline" status. [Mod removed-personal information] both have their accounts to show online. Some days
[Mod removed-personal information] will be online and others it will show him Offline even though he has it set to Online. My friend
[mod removed-personal information] has his settings set to Online but it never shows him online.

I have noticed other post recently where people are having this same issue. Can Microsoft confirm that this is a known bug or issue?

Is there a fix or work around?

Showing offline to friends

I once set my profile to appear offline. I have changed it back to appear online. Even went into settings and made sure all settings was so that friends could see me online. No matter what I have done, it still says I'm offline. I can send messages and invite
to party, but can not send game invites and friends can not join game, because it only shows offline. Need help as I am getting very frustrated with this.

online friends not showing up

Im having the same issue. My friends online were changed to offline and even the ones who were already offline wont say when they were last on it only says offline. My online status says im offline to everyone but my privacy settings are open and my settings
are set to online. This happened early this morning when i accepted a friend request and ever since i have been unable to see my friends or appear online.

Hi there,

can you double check if it shows the same issue when you look at friends via xbox.com or the Xbox App?

If it only shows the issue on the console, then try the following

Remove profile from the console (Make sure you know the account credentials for the account, since you will need them later)

Perform the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:

Redownload your profile

When you look at your setting does it say "Show Offline" or "Show Online" If it says "Show Online" then you are appearing Offline to your friends. It is a simple toggle. When you look at it it is showing your friends the opposite of what it is showing
you. So you if want to appear Online to your friend you will want the switch to say "Appear Offline". This may not be the issue but it has confused a number of gamers in the past. Let us know. Good Luck!

no they are actually online. its my boyfriend and his settings are not set to "appear offline". he is actually online but he is not showing up on my friends list as online
